HI. This Wega set is a July 2004 set, and already its going into shutdown right at startup. I am told that this means the tube is going, and that the AKB balancing is keeping the set from turning on. Can anyone shed some light on this repair, if possible? Thanks.

Desconnect the crt board from the tube and see if powers up if it does't you know that's not the tube.can you bring up service menu?

Yes It powers on almost half the time, and I can get to the the service mode. I will try puling the neck board and slo maybe turning up the g2?

So what does it say in the sevice mode, what fault is it?

I am not sure where to look, I don't know how to decode the numbers into a fault

Can anyone shed some light on the following matter:

SONY KV28WF1U Uk model tv.

not sure o fhte chassis type. not opened the back yet.
Set has ben working fine many years, but now the problem is :
incorrect aspect ratio (excessive height and width.
Also, poor focus in the corners.

Main thing I need to know is how to get into service mode AND the various codes.

It maybe the IC606(9V REG LM2940CT,i don't know that modle# but also could be a fault in the pincushion circuit.
