Hello all.

I'm having some SERIOUS probs with my girlfriend's mother's refurbed Sanyo DS-24425-02.

Originally, I thought the problem may lie in the onboard tuner, as the initial issue was with the TV accepting a split from a cable box, and the auto-shut-off feature. However, after pulling the RF cable line and replacing the screw-type RF connector with a push-type adaptor and adding an inline booster, the problem persisted.

So then i started messing around in the service menu. Using the service manual as a guide, i reset all values outlined in the "if eeprom is replaced" section...they were mostly wrong at the outset.

and then something very strange happened. Halfway through this process, the onscreen display quit, the TV display lost about 1/2 brightness, and now the set is stuck in some half-mode b/w service and standard operation. Any attempt to restart the service mode leaves me able to adjust certain features, but there is no onscreen display, either in "service" or "standard" modes.

It's obvious I need to erase/flash the eeprom (IC802), but I cannot find a SINGLE method on how to do this, save for a few mentions of unplugging the set from AC over 4 hours, which does NOTHING.

Do I need to replace the IC? Is there a way to reset the eeproms from outside the box? Is the TV finished?

HELP!!!!!

Please write me at jeffreyp@ocularnutrition.ca as opposed to PM's if you please. However, PM's will do in a pinch, of course...
