All nice info if that was his set,,,, the set in question is the PTK/orCTC195,,, not the old 178/179, all info on that site will simply confuse the guy, If a 195 beeps this usaly means a shorted High voltage transformer or a shorted Horizontal Output

I thought maybe this would help the chassis # is PTK195AA. I have done a little research and i found a post that indicated that stk730-130 a 105 watt IC could be the problem.would this be correct and if so where would this IC be at and how do you test it?

Make:RCA
Model:P52810LVG2
Chassis:PTK195AB
Problem:Convergence Problem, no digicon communication between main board and convergence board, bank of heat sinks on convergence board, stone cold
Solution:Replace STK730-130, NTE cross, NTE7125, problem solved. You may have to get into the codes to adjust set.

RCA
P61960
Chassis:PTK195
Problem:DEAD, no click, no start
Solution:Data line held low by conductive glue under SMDcaps C19503 and C19581
Comments:Comments:Remove caps, clean glue from board and replace caps. A good starting place on these dead sets is to check for 4.9vdc on P/J 19503 on the convergence board. Easy to get to. Of course the clock and data can be held low by a lot of things, but that plug is an easy place to start.

RCA
P52810LV
CTC195 projection set
Poor convergence and NO convergence set-up menu
R19703 was open on convergence power board, 750K 1/2watt.
Comments:RCA model P52810LV, convergence was pretty bad, went into menu to pull up cust. convergence and it wasn`t there?? heatsinks on digicon board were cold, was told by RCA techline (for a small fortune)to replace/check CR19709/10, Q19504 and eprom on digicon board U19201 (8) for 5 volts, ALL of those devices were good, bought the print for it and started checking voltages, R19703 was open on convergence power board, 750K 1/2watt. hope this helps someone out in the future, Larry E. American TV & Electronics

RCA
PTK195
Dead set, does nothing.
Replaced C19503 & C19581 both smd`s
Comments: Be sure to remove all glue from board where these caps were mounted. This glue is apparently going to be a problem on 195 & 197 chassis`s.

No high band VHF tuning
Replaced C17713 1000pf surface mount capacitor #192060
Comments:this set RCA PTV PTK195 chassis (applies to all 195/197 chassis) would not tune high band VHF 7-13.Funny thing was found Q17503 C was -3.9 volts in LOW VHF and UHF mode (should have been -11.1 volts) and was correct +11.6 volts in high VHF. FIX was leaky C17713 (6.7K ohms out of circuit) goes from Q17503 C to U17701 pin 12 have seen this once before but was not tuning low VHF

Comments:step 1 check for+/- 15 & 45 vdc on covg pwr supply. this set uses theses supplies to power the scan loss circuit. step 2 check for vert. and horz. to p19101. most of the time it is the conv. pwr supply 250688

RCA

Flyback, #239111
Comments:Tries to start 3 times (base of output). Unsolder collector, stays on & has sound. Replace flyback.

RCA

CTC196PC
DESTROYS HOT's instantly at turn on
C4402---.056 - 400 volt cap ( was open)
Comments:Originally thought the problem was the flyback--Be careful when replacing flyback because the replacement may be the wrong one in the right box which will burn up the regulator board resistors & cause more damage.
