Sony KV-36FS100 Burning smell & screen flicker in corners on cold starts

Hi,

The set still works--I run a fan through the side vents which has eliminated the burning smell. But on cold startups while the LED flashes (4 times) I get brief flashes (not bright) in the corners of the screen.

Since this is a 200lb+ set it will be repaired at home, hopefully by me.

Thanks for your advice and input.

Whit

Can you give me a little more information? I am a PC technician...not too sure where to find the pins. Will it be clear since the area has overheated (burnt).

Also, I cannot find schematics for the KV-36FS100 on this site. Ideally, I would love to find a DIY guide or step-by-step instructions for doing this type of repair. However, I would not be surprised if nothing was available, given that it is an uncommon repair

then again, everything is on the internet these days if you know how to find it...any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time!
