Sony CVM-1271 Vertical Collapse

I know this is an old unit, but it serves a specific purpose in our rack.

The video has collapsed to the middle 1/3 of the screen. Can someone tell me where the vertical drive IC is? Or is it discreet component curcuitry?

Thanks for any help!

Thanks Frank! I'll look for this IC and do some testing.

Sony always had issues with the filter capacitor on the feed line, check that before you spend on an IC. Its usually a 680uF 35V. use 1000uF63V.

Would this cap being defective cause irratic vertical deflection? The picture goes from top 2/3 of screen to middle 1/3 to middle 1/5. Not constantly as you watch it, but different deflections as you shut off the TV, let it set, then turn it back on.

1000uF 63V will cost you just over a dollar, I could venture into ideas why its a dry joint on the vertical IC or the cap is falling apart, but for a buck, what do you want?.
