42 inch Plasma model # 42PF7321D

Problem. Heard slight bang and now i have no picure, no menu guide, all black screen, however the sound works and i can change the channels via the cable and hear the channels, just cannot see them. Light is green and not red or flashing. Tried the software update that Phillips suggested. No Change... any ideas ? TV only 2 years old and i have 2 kids that like spongebob.

When you heard the bang noise, did you notice any smoke or odor from the set? If so, you might be able to see what component failed. That still may not be the total solution as something else may have failed first to kill the item that actually smoked.

You are not going to fix this yourself its not that easy. First Philips dont make a Plasma, its a rebadged LG. The usual with those is you need to replace two or three panels dependant on fault. If you dont, often you fit one board and it works for a week then blows again. So find yourself a Philips agent and expect to pay probably about 1/3 of new price. You may be lucky but thats about average. Also its software setup is Philips so you can not use standard LG panels.
