I have a 32" Samsung flat screen CRT tv DYNAflat HD. It is 8 years old. Recently it started taking more and more time to turn on. It started taking a couple of minutes to turn on and progressed to 2-3 hours. The sound takes about 1 minute to come on and the picture was coming and going. Now there is no picture. When the picture was coming and going intermittenly the picture was still clear with good color. This was an expensive tv when purchased and would like to fix it if cost effective.

Time for a new TV. Its 95% certain the picture tube is flat. There are methods where with luck you may squeeze some time out of it but its not worth the trouble. The story is a CRT has 3 guns R G and B. Grey is made up of .3 red .59 green and .11 blue how bright it is is dependant on how hard each gun is on. The TV has a micro processor and at start up the tube draws 3 lines one of each colour, usually near the top. This is below black so you will not see them. The processor then gets a signal and if that signal is .3, .59, .11 it will switch the picture on. If not it resets the drive and tries again. You now have a tube that will not balance, any fix you may try will degrade the picture and the chances are it will only last a few weeks.

Thanks for the information, I was hoping for better news, I really liked this tv. I hate to just throw the unit away, is there some place that will take it and use the parts?

The parts are as useful to me as they are to you. It would cost me $17 in my country to dump your TV, what it costs you I dont know. Would you wish me as a repairer to come in and fix your TV with an 8 year old second hand part, or would you prefer for an extra few dollars, new parts. When you answer that, you answer your own question.
