My television has gone out. I can't see a picture, but I can hear the programs as I change channels. What could the problem be? Are the Flat screens disposable technology? Do I throw away and buy another???

Are you talking about LCD tv?
The backlight is gone.
Check the invertor board.
Could be a component type fuse is burnt.
