Grandmother went bonkers with the universal remote HELP

Sylvania #6420FF TV has a black screen with numbers all around. Pushing the menu button produces purple numbers 1-9 across the top. Channels will not change. TV will not turn off unless I unplug it from the wall, which I did, but the same screen appeared after plugging it back in.

This all started when my grandmother tried to change the channel with a Philips Universal Remote http://www.yicrosoft-directory-online.com/philips-universal-remote-a-product-review/) that has been programmed for the TV. She tried to change the channel and pushed the wrong buttons each time, which led her further in a hole and she got confused and ended up with this mess.

What can I do to correct this problem? Thanks for the assistance!

Looks like the tv is in the self troubleshooting or auto focus mode but still needs to continue to complete the setup. Try pulling the batteries out of the remote and reinstalling them then goto your tv's owners manual and checkout these features to finish the process. You may have to use the original remote to do this and also need to reprogram the universal remote so your tv will accept its commands.
