This is a ps32500 chassis ctc197cm3 and its 10 yrs old. I'm watching TV and wham the audio goes to complete static. No problem up till that moment. Any ideas about what happened? Volume controls work(more or less static)

You may be able to resolve this issue by simply unplugging and replugging the TV. There is something in the data stream on cable and some satellite feeds that "confuses" the micro. We see this alot in the 195 and 197s. But there is no permanent fix. Keep the set plugged into a power strip with the switch readily accessible, as the problem will likely happen again.
