1 year warrenty ran out 2 months ago and now I have a picture that shows:

A perfect horizontal line about 1" down from top going all the way across. picture perfect above the horz. line but cloudy and showing faint multi color vert. lines below the horz. line...color in faint vertical lines intensifies with what is showing on the program.

have Tv opened up and need some advice where to look for the problem I am describing..thank you JR

That sounds suspiciously like a bad LCD panel. You might want to contact Sony support and see if they can meet you half way on the cost.
