| to quote rick - "Bruce was more valuable alive than dead, in regards to Chow making money. Face it, without Bruce's talents, there's no way a producer would be able to cash in and be as successful on his own."
This is not correct. It well know Bruce was planning to spilt with Chow. There are diputes over accounts - check info on Bruce's income statments after he died from concord via his tax records. There is also an interesting letter in "Letter of the Dragon" to Run run shaw, Chow's bitter, and I mean bitter rival, with Bruce keen to do a film with Run Run, how do you think Chow felt about this ? There is much to suggest Bruce and Chow's business relationship was coming to an end. Also well know is Warners were to get Bruce to sign a deal for more pictures with them. What did Bruce need Chow for ? All Bruce needed was a studio to back him, in '73 - Bruce was famous and there were many options for Bruce.
to quote again rick - "Face it, without Bruce's talents, there's no way a producer would be able to cash in and be as successful on his own. I'm not talking about his cut from the films he made with Bruce, but the continuing profits from making blockbuster movies that keep you afloat. Bruce was the leader. It all revolved around him. When Lee died, Chow lost a lot."
This again is not correct. Chow did very very well with Golden Haverst in fact after Bruce's death. Chow was/is a very clever business man. After he left Run Run Shaw, he set up a company to rival Run Run Shaw's empire and even after Bruce's death, he conitnued to do very very well.
Now if Bruce had left Chow, sure Chow would have lossed a great asset for sure. But Lee's death, is a different story. Linda Lee took years to settle the business accounts with Chow. And you can be sure he got a great deal and made lots. Also he had Lee's main stock of footage (Big Boss, Fists of Fury, Way of Dragon, unfinshed game of death) and well as concord owning shares in Enter the Dragon, and of course the footage from Bruce's house soon after his death. How much do you think this would be worth if Bruce had lived and made more movies in the US ? Also Chow was able to make two doc's and Game of Death 1 & 2. Chow made millions and millions after Lee's death that would not have been possible if Lee had left and made further movies.
Could Chow been involved ? hmm...
Did Chow have something to gain from Lee's death ? given the fact Bruce was about to leave, there no doubt Chow gained big time from Bruce's death !
Did Chow play a part in Lee's death ? ....hmmm.... its possible and he is clearly one of the suspects
