Popular weapons in south america

Hello everyone,

I'm interested what weapons are most popular in south america (that includes Argetina, Venezuela, Brasil, Mexico and any other south america countries that there is no point in writing here down) and that includes weapons that "civilians" use (those who have legal access to weapons, and those who have them illegally - like guerillas or criminals), police forces (special and regular duty) and army.

Could anyone help me out?

Unfortunately the only foreign languages (at least to me, my native language is polish) that I know are english and german, so it's quite hard to "read" such information in the Internet.

For now I only know that Brasil uses a license built FN FAL (IMBEL LAR) but I have no idea how "popular" (does the police use it? or only the brasilian army?).

I heard something about Galil being popular in south america, but I have no idea if it's true, or not.
