Bondra exchanges shots with Bolt

TAMPA -- Lightning centre Tim Taylor didn't have any kind words for Senators winger Peter Bondra yesterday.
"I don't really like him as a player. I think he's selfish," said Taylor when asked by the St. Petersburg Times what he thought of the Senators' acquisition of the high-scoring Bondra from the Washington Capitals.
"He adds that extra element, I guess, but I always looked at him from the outside as a selfish player. I know there were rumours he was coming here, but I'm glad he didn't."
The comments left Bondra the target of his teammates' barbs yesterday.
"I couldn't care less about it," said Bondra. "I don't know who Tim Taylor is, so I'm not really sure what to say about it. He's still an NHL player? I'm not sure. I saw it in the paper and my teammates were kind of bugging me about it. That's about it.
"Honestly, who is he?"
Told he was the Lightning's third-line centre by a Tampa reporter, Bondra didn't flinch.
"He is? That's nice. I don't know who he is so far, so his opinion doesn't (really matter)," Bondra said. "The guys saw it and they're having fun with it. He has his say, but I don't really pay any attention to it."
If Bondra didn't know who Taylor was, he found out in a hurry in last night's game, won 5-4 in overtime by the Senators. Early in the game, Bondra and Taylor got into a shoving and shouting match along the boards. Both received minor penalties.
Earlier, Taylor tried to backtrack when asked by the Ottawa media to explain his quotes.
"I believe it was kind of taken out of context," said Taylor. "He adds an element for (the Senators) that they feel they need and he fits in well there. I guess I was just saying that's an element we don't feel we really need."
Q: Jeez, was it because Bonzai always had good numbers against TB? That Tim Taylor is a tool(man)!
