From the Caps' web site . . .

Washington can reasonably be expected to flesh out its NHL roster with a few additions via the free agent route, but any way you slice it, the Capitals figure to have one of the youngest clubs in the league during the next NHL campaign.

OK . . . who?  You might look here for a listing of who's available:

I'm guessing either Perreault, Knuble, or Demitra, somehow as our #1 center.

Weinrich, Modry, or Matvichuck.

Could be Keith Carney.  We need a good stay at home defenseman, and I can dream that someone like that would come to the Caps.

Along those lines, and keeping with teh ex-Penguins theme that seems to be running for the last few years, Jiri Slegr or Bob Boughner could be a possibilty as well.

An ex-Penguin I can almost gaurantee won't be here his Alexei Kovalev.  I think we figured out that the forwards from the team that ask for too much money are pretty much done once they leave the confines of Mellon Arena.

John Madden would be great as a Cap, a blue collar grinder much the way that we used to be before we got Jagr.  However,  I don't think we'll be able to pry his rights from Lou's cold dead fingers.

Mike Ricci and Todd Harvey are available, and if San Jose is continuing with getting rid of veterans, I think they'd look great in a Caps uniform.

I see that Mario's contract is up... maybe we can try for him again *L* *j/k*

I just realized our payroll is at $20,208,750. We officially have the lowest payroll in the league. Pitt is close w/$20,655,640. We can afford a couple guys. We're in great shape.

I'm guessing that does not include Johansson and Fleischman?
