Since the Flyers were eliminated from this year's playoffs , there has been a lot of "doings" going on in Philly.
First Bobby Clarke basically called the potential salary cap stupid and said it would punish teams that do a good job competing every year.
Then owner Ed Snider made the astonishing statement that the Flyers had LOST money this past season.
Nobody believed this and when the Flyer president, Ron Ryan(who admits that the Flyers made money), tried to explain the difference between him and Snider .
His answer was .........."The difference is that the report we make to the league , as directed by the players association ,is different from our own internal audited statement, which we view to be more accurate" said Ryan "So we were talking about two different reports".
Two different set of books .
Not uncommon in the NHL.
If the Flyers lost money this past season , then the NHL might as well fold.
In reality , the Flyers ownership raked in the dough through concessions/parking /rent paid by the Flyers and the Flyer team did not get any of concession/ parking revenues.
Creative bookkeeping can even make the Flyers look like money losers.

"Two different sets of books" - kind of like its amazing how income tax returns and financial statements on the same company can show such completely different bottom lines.
