My God, the man is on a ROLL . . .

"The Caps basically held their nose while selecting Alexander Ovechkin first overall before then holding at arm's length this charismatic Russian who's only advertised to be the best young prospect since Lindros or Lemieux. Everyone could see it. The Caps didn't even have a nameplate for the jersey they presented to the likable teenager, who played to the portion of the crowd that had made the trek from D.C. and chanted his name before and immediately after his selection by the team.

"What was — and is — Ted Leonsis afraid of, that he might actually have to pay Ovechkin? And guess what? The inappropriate reception he received from upper management only is going to make Ovechkin more difficult for the Caps to sign; Leonsis can bank on that."

Quick! . . . Somebody call the WHAAAAAAAAAAAmbulance!

Bitter Larry???  Just think of all the high ticket crybabies the Rangers had and it still couldn't earn them the worst spot in the league *ahem* I mean, a playoff spot.

Several teams didn't have nameplates(?) on the jerseys- no biggie. None of the Dallas draftees were identifiable, and several other teams as well. It just shows GMGM was serious about listening to all offers for the pick- why have Ovechkin's name on a jersey when you might draft Malkin or Ladd?

AO and TL looked happy enough with each other at the draft party, and AO had the biggest smile of all. He wasn't supposed to sign autographs, but before the draft party I believe it was Karen got his sig on a jersey, and he was signing with the number 8- sorry, Steve.....

Larry does have one thing right, though- at the draft, we were chanting his (AO) name as McPhee went to the podium, and when he made the announcement, AO turned to our section of the crowd and waved to us before he headed up to get the jersey.

amd ESPN caught the wave, big as life, on TV (I kind of suspected that was who he was waving to).  And, I understand that those names that ARE on jerseys aren't sewn on . . . they're velcroed (just in case).

Actually there no rules against signing aurographs at the RBC Center, just at the party...I'm pretty sure Karen got him on the concourse.
