"The league was shut down by a commissioner who does not burn with the same passion for hockey as fans or players who grew up on skates, wishing every winter for the pond to freeze with the same giddy anticipation as the arrival of Santa Claus."

Well, if Bettman lacks the requisite passion for the game that would allow him to see past the money issues, then what of those players who grew up on skates, wishing every winter for the pond to freeze?  They can't look past the money issues to realize their passion?

The only thing freezing over these days is Hell . . . it will be then that one of the sides yields.

A pox on both their houses.
