If Semin doesn't get here in time, I guess Pettinger will take his spot.
I believe Fehr must score at least a couple of big goals in preseason if he wants to make the Caps early. But I believe he'll have to score one goal every two games and play strong in the AHL to get recalled.
"The first surprise awaits spectators even on the predmatchevoy unrolling, when in the composition of masters Aleksandr Semin appears. Talented forvard at long last was dismantled with its problems with "Washington" and, according to the teacher Peter Vorobyev's "harmonies", until it is play in Togliatti. But the absence of practice affects the actions of vazovskoy asterisk. Semin only rarely is shot to the winches, and is opened the calculation not long before the interruption one additional eks -3nxa3loveq [ex-teammate?] - Nikolishin."
Nikolishin centers their 3rd line, apparently, and he scored the first goal.
There's a D. Semin on the Spartak's lineup, by the way.

2006 Russian Super League (Russia) Alexander Semin (Washington Capitals) coming back to the NHL! It appears that one of the brightest 2003-04 NHL rookies is coming back to the NHL. The young forward was involved in a bit of controversy when he was suspended by the Washington Capitals at the beginning of the 2004-05 season for not showing up for Washington’s AHL affiliate’s training camp. Instead, he spent the 2004-05 season skating for Lada (Togliatti) in the Russian Super League, establishing himself as one of the league’s top snipers. The young forward also saw ice time on Russia’s national team. Prior to the beginning of the 2005-06 season, Semin signed a new one year contract with Lada, seemingly deciding to remain in Russia. There was also his military service to consider, as Semin was conscripted into the Russian military prior to last season. However, despite the contract and the military service, Semin is on his way back to North America and will take his place as one of the key building blocks besides other young rookies, including the 2004 NHL Entry Draft’s first overall selection Alexander Ovechkin. For Lada, Semin’s departure further opens a gaping hole, as the young forward is another of a series of players to leave the club for the NHL, including Nikolai Antropov, Danius Zubrus, Anton Volchenkov>, and Viktor Kozlov.

2006 Ceska Poistovna (EuroTour) (Czech Republc) Alexander Semin (Washington Capitals) no lock for Russia’s roster Alexander Semin (Washington Capitals) may not accompany the Russian national team to September’s Ceska Poistovna EuroTour tournament. In an interview with the Soviet Sport newspaper, he explained his situation: “I can be recalled by Washington at any time. So, I am not sure if I will be flying to the Czech Republic or not." Furthermore, the NHL club has reportedly allowed Semin to play in the tournament, but stated that if he suffers an injury, it would have an impact on his NHl contract and he would need to seek treatment on his own. Thus, his participation in the tournament is at best questionable, though on the bright side his return to Washington is all but assured.
Although he had signed a new contract with Lada Togliatti, three weeks ago he still wanted to play in the NHL this year: "I can be recalled by Washington at any time." He probably signed with Lada "just in case", because he didn't want to spend weeks without playing and without money. Before this September-19 game, his last game with Lada was on August 19. The contract for this season was already signed, so it's logical to see him playing with Lada if he's still waiting for his visa. Except that he could get injured, but after all, he could get injured practicing too.

Or, he could miss the team plane because he's playing pick-up hockey with a bunch of locals...uhmm, oops, wait a minute, already happened. Aw fuck it, shoot to the winches, my man!!
There's even a 1000 x 1500 pic of that 6'3 227 baby . Hopefully, he'll score as often in the NHL as he did in the Czech League those last three years... that would give us 35 goals for 82 games.
Well, I mean... hopefully he'll show up some day. That would be a good start.
Sejcek (Flozik, 18:49, 19.09.2005) Nevite proc neni Petr Sykora uz za morem?? Dneska sem ho potkal ve meste. (You do not know - what for - there's not - Petr Sykora - yet - in - uniform ?? - Today - here - him - met - in - town)

From what I can understand of the article, Sykora is practicing with Pardubice, and has a contract with them... It seems Pardubice doesn't want him to leave, and doesn't recognize the validity of his contract with the Capitals, or something like that. They say he could play this Sunday, apparently.
Hopefully, we'll find someone able to translate this article.
I've been saying for years, Sykora's a big Czech fish in a small Czech pond- he has no intention of ever playing in Washington.
Call me if he ever shows up.
And I'll cut the Russian kid some slack for now, only because he's very young- I'll give him one, maybe two more years to realize he should be playing in the best hockey league in the world, and to get over whatever personal/social issues are holding him back at the moment.
Pardubice played its sixth game without Sykora. Apparently, he's in game shape, he's their best forward, but he doesn't play. Can we see that as a good sign?
They left: Zubrus Dainius (NHL) and Semin Aleksandr (NHL), among others.
They arrived: Nikolishin Andrey, among others.
They also give the name of everyone who got signed or re-signed; no Semin there, of course.
Semin has played in 3 of their first 8 games, though, and appears in their roster. He's scoreless so far. Niko has 2 goals (both game winning goals) in 7 games.
Here's a (large) photo of Semin playing for them on September 19:
An interesting interview (December 2004), where Semin apparently says it's good to "take a walk" when you're young... Playing abroad doesn't seem to be a problem for him, on the contrary.
Sorry for the Altavista Babelfish translation. "Harmony" is "Lada".
14 December 2004.
Aleksandr Semin: I go for a walk, thus far young
Young napadayushchiy "harmonies" Aleksandr Semin, who for the first time appeared himself in the command in 2002 at the age of 18 years, broke into the basic composition so swiftly, as fly washers after his brush it is rocking into the gates of the goalkeepers of rival. After becoming in that — debyutnom for itself season in the super-league the best bombardier of the series play off, it was invited into the composite of the country. Its departure in NKHL was decided beforehand and Semin leaves for Washington. And here is — the thanks to lock-out, Sasha again plays in Togliatti. 27 games even 14 heads in them — not weak rate of fire, truth. Before the sequential call into the composite I asked to answer it several questions interesting.
— Aleksandr, how, from your point of view, it did change "harmony" in the time, that you did conduct in Washington?
— Game in the defense did not undergo any serious changes, and it is here in the attack, with the arrival of such players as Daynyus Of zubrus and Victor Kozlov power grew.
— But you personally somehow it did change in the time, carry ouied after the ocean?
— I cannot judge itself. But, in my opinion as men I remained before.
— American hockey introduced for you something new or not?
— There everything is done more rapidly, it is more mobile, but revelation for me it did not become in also the time. Well is certain, game there pochishche, than in Russia.
— It helped to be mastered on American ice someone?
— Yes, our children helped — Sergey gonchar, Daynyus Of zubrus, yes even generally all partners gradually.
— By family he did not there acquire randomly?
— No (it laughs). Still it is desirable to take a walk, thus far young.
— It did be possible to you to learn to freely iz"yasnyat'sya in English?
— On the whole, thus far not very, but the specific successes exist.
— Someone does help or to be necessary everything to master for very?
— Coach helps me.
— The staggering brush thrust, which you do healthily manage, this gift is more than or the result of trainings?
— 4 before each training I leave prior to its beginning and throw on the winches from the brushes — I grind technology.
— On your two today's goals into the gates Of "salavata Of yulayeva" can describe popodrobneye?
— In the first golevom moment I overcame for the washer along side, passed to the center and from under it immediately threw defender from the brushes, and the secondly, after the followed me pass, to gathering into the contact it struck and fell.
— Despite the fact that you already sufficiently well-known player, it is possible to note, as after trainings and unrollings you gather washers together with the younger players.
— In this there is nothing burdensome. 4 itself after trainings I throw on the winches and to me not into the burden to gather washers, even for other children.
— The improvised leave as you will conduct?
— Yes what this is leave! The tenth it is already necessary to be in the composite. Here I will take a trip into native Krasnoyarsk on the day and everything.
— Had long ago been it were not seen with the family?
— Parents live with me in Togliatti, but two weeks were not seen with the sister.
Pardubice played its sixth game without Sykora. Apparently, he's in game shape, he's their best forward, but he doesn't play. Can we see that as a good sign?
Well, since he has a contract with the Caps, and the Czech Republic has signed the IIHF agreement, he is legally not allowed to play anywhere else, other than for the Caps. (I guess except Russia if he chooses to, since they didn't sign the agreement)
Sykora, I almost have faith that he will be here, Semin, I have almost no hope that he will be here.
That's one of the funniest things I've ever read. I can make out a thread of a conversation, but I also see the beginnings of a great mythical story.
In a magic, far away land, there lived a great hero named "Daynyus of Zubrus". One day, he set forth on a dangerous quest to the gates Of "salavata Of yulayeva" His first challenge was to answer a riddle from the staggering brush. It looks at our hero and asks " Can you describe popodrobneye?" Daynyus of Zubrus responds "from the brushes — I grind technology". The staggering brush shakes its leaves, "No (it laughs)" "For this wrong answer, you must gather washers together with the younger players. " Our hero bravely says. "In this there is nothing burdensome," as he throws on the winches.
Yep, the start of a classic. Maybe we can expand it into a trilogy and have Peter Jackson direct the movie version!
