Ovechkin-Zubrus-Halpern, Eminger-Morrisonn. Interesting. Probably because Cassels doesn't play (Cassels plays, actually). Pettinger is back, as well as some guys who got assigned to Hershey.
Pirjeta won the first faceoff against Zubrus.

We have more key players than them... we must beat them.
Misto... no one? They're still Pens, even if they're not famous. But it's true that their best line tonight is their future third line. They don't have any top-6 forward, only one top-4 defenseman (Melichar), and it's a backup goalie.
The Caps have some of their best forwards, but our defense could be better.
Caps are dominating, by far, but Pens got lucky. Shots are 18-5 Caps. Muir took 7 shots in the first period (including 2 missed shots). Ovechkin had 3 shots. Faceoffs are 16-6 Caps.
There was no reason to think this game was already lost. We're dominating, so it's just a question of time. I'm a little worried about having Ouellet in goal for the whole game, though.
Caps on the PP for 4 minutes. Pettinger off the post! Let's take our time... another goal post by Willsie! Geez... Isn't that the third one? I believe Muir also hit the post in the first period. Those WBS Pens are lucky!
Shots are 28-10 Caps.

Now, if only he could do that against the true Pens and during the regular season.
Deflected by Halpern, actually. PPG. Assists: Ovechkin and Morrisonn.
On the ice: OVECHKIN CASSELS HALPERN, MORRISONN GREEN, OUELLET Fata Armstrong, Orpik Fernholm, Caron

Well maybe it was a good thig that the Pens didn't put in their main players. It gave me the opportunity to concentrate on Ovechkin. He got a hatty but no hats were thrown. I wonder when the local Caps fans will start enjoying the game again.
But I was hoping to get to see the new Pens on the ice. I know I will have plenty of opportunity but it has been so long since there has been a televised game......

Will they score ten or twenty more goals than the top two lines of the "new" Caps? Perhaps. Will that make a difference? Hopefully, they'll be second in the East, we'll be 7th, and we'll beat them in the first round of the playoffs. Sorry, Misto, but Caps fans are waiting for this since a very long time. After that, we don't care if we lose in the second round. It's only Year 1 for the new Caps. While the new Pens are already in their last season.
