About our record so far: it could be worse. The Penguins, who pretend to be Stanley Cup contenders (bwahahahahahaha) have yet to win a game. The Thrashers (who have thrashed us twice), have lost their last three games 2-0, 9-1 and 5-1, despite Kovalchuk's return to their lineup (we're the only team they were able to beat so far). On the other hand, Minnesota is leading the Western Conference. It's too early to say if we're going to be good or not, in my opinion...

"Eminger, Morrisonn, Yonkman, Green"... that's 4 d-men with little experience. I don't like that. Against Tampa Bay!

If you want company here tonight,Marc you'll need to hush it about the Penguins LOL

Not many fans in the stands there tonight But at least a polite applause for Olie's save

Eminger to the box (5th penalty against the Caps in the first period; only one against the Lightning).

By the way, "Morrisonn Yonkman" in my lineup is only hypothetical: Yonkman has yet to play a shift. Actually, it's:

Witt Eminger
Heward Morrisonn
Heward Green

Lecavalier scores on the PP! 1-0.

Yonkman had his first shift, paired with Morrisonn, right after Clark's goal.

Penalty killed. Kolzig is playing well tonight. If we don't make too many mistakes, perhaps we can win this game.

Prospal scores. We spent too much time on the PK in this period. 2-1 Lightning.

Ovechkin... SCORES! 1-1.

St. Louis... denied by Kolzig!

Sykora... shoots and scores! between the legs of Sean Burke. 2-1 Caps.

Richards... denied!

CAPS WIN!

THE CAPS BEAT THE STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!

Awfully outshot again, but solid game. Great!

32:43 in ice time, two assists, +2 . . . Eminger deserved the first star tonight.

So who won the shootout? (I didn't watch it)

I left MCI end 2nd, got home for the last 9:40 of the 3rd and the OT on TV.

I thought they all played well enough, considering the time off, and Eminger did have a great game for a kid. Haven't checked the shift charts yet, but my thought before the game was that Kubina would shadow Ovechkin as Havelid did, for the Thrashers. I do know Kubina had over 26:00 TOI, late in the 3rd.

Caps need to put a few more shots on net (in each period- 10 for the 1st, 7 for the 2nd and 3rd combined? Yikes).... what else is new? It seems they're all waiting for AO to take over the game. Halpern kept getting thrown out of the faceoffs.... 1st goal was just what they needed tonight- a fluke that went in from the side (from what I could see).... Olie made some great saves, he even surprised himself once- I caught him looking over his left shoulder to see if it went in (it was under his pad).

Good effort, tonight. Kudos.

edit: Oh, yeah- Sykora spent some time on the 1st line tonight. No idea why.

Lcavalier -- score (backhand over Kolzig's left pad after a deke)
St. Louis -- save (tried to go 7-hole, under Kolzig's left arm)
Richards -- save (tried to go over Kolzig's blocker)

Ovechkin -- score (stutter-step, deke, backhand over Burke's right pad)
Sykora -- score (no messing around, got to the hash marks, went five-hole)
Willsie -- did not shoot
