End of first. Shots: 14-14. The Caps will begin the second period with 1:47 left to their second penalty. The Blackhawks got called four times for hooking in the first, and the Caps had a couple of scoring chances (one by Zubrus, who's hot, lately), but no goal. Since Biron plays on the PP (10th game tonight), the Caps have always scored at least one PP goal per game.

Spacek scores. Sounds like Kolzig got hit on the action, and Heward sent the puck into the net, trying to save the goal, or something like that. Ugly.
We're supposed to be better than them, I think. I can't believe we're trailing 3-0.

Another PP without a SOG (that's 3 in a row), but just as it ends, AO carries it in, shoots, and Sutherby pots the easy rebound from the top of the crease!

And Kolzig was hurt and down for a moment, on that save- looked like he either got hit on or twisted his left leg- he stayed face down on the ice for a while, the trainer came out, but when play resumed, it was Olie still in goal.

It's Munro's first NHL game this season (and 8th NHL game of his career). Not a bad one, apparently. Sounds like he made some important saves.

Highlights .
Awesome goal by Ovechkin. We have the best player in the league.
Looks like a Blackhawk tripped Kolzig on Spacek's goal.
Sutherby scored from inside the crease, but he didn't hit the goalie like Calder did on the game-winning goal.
Ovechkin was named first star of the game.
