6:30 into the game, a PP (with no SOGs), and I'd bet not :45 has been spent in the Caps' offensive zone.
Probably gonna be a long night, if they don't pick up the pace.

No CSB (aka CBS) line anymore: Halpern back to more defensive duty, and Sutherby in a more offensive role, centering Friesen and Willsie (interesting). Good fourth line.

Giguere come up huge. Both goalies have played big when they had to.

Can the Caps make it a SE sweep, tonight? The 'Canes, Thrashers and Lightning all have won..... the Pens lost to the Blackhawks, Crosby with a secondary assist on the lone Penguins' goal.
An omen, in the 1st? Heward got hit, landed head first in the Ducks' bench, and came out with a white towel draped over his stick, which (the towel) he left on the ice.... don't surrender yet, guys!

So far, Ovechkin is 10-9-19 in his last 12 games. If he keeps up this pace, he'll have 114 points at the end of the season.

Ovechkin ends the 2nd in the box, for charging (it was, but it was also close to being just another crushing good hit).
2-2, end 2nd. Ducks will start the 3rd with something like 1:54 on the PP.

Eminger: looked like he caught the heel of his right skate in the ice, somehow, and was grimacing in pain before he ever went down and crashed into the boards. The trainer came out, and they helped him off the ice, without him putting any weight on his right foot at all.
This may be a bad injury.

Hope Eminger will be back soon.
Best game for Ovechkin so far, I think. Great goals, great hits, plus an overtime goal. First career hat trick, 30-goal plateau and all. We're going to win the Cup with him. He'll score in overtime of game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
