Johnson (ex-Coyote) again in goal for the Caps. Eminger out, Yonkman in. Oh, and Friesen's number is 41, by the way (I didn't notice that the other day).
This will probably put an end to it, but the boys are playing well so far!
Not a lot of action, but what there is is good- positioning, shots, defense- they've got it together for the moment.Several good hits, and they all seem to have their legs.
Strange goal, but it counts! Zubrus is fighting for the puck with someone, the guy hits it toward the 'Yotes' goal, and the Dman taps it under Boucher for the Caps.....
Majesky tries an "own" goal of his own, but Johnson comes up big........... lol.
But the 'Yotes keep the pressure on, keep the SOGs on net, and finally tie it up at 1-1 on a wrist shot by Ballard through a heavy screen (it may have been tipped by Doan at the end- we'll see if they change the scoring later on).
Thanks for "Boucher in goal." I had not checked yet who was in goal for the Coyotes.
Does Clark center Ovechkin's line at even strength? He took the first three faceoffs on that line, at least. Zubrus took faceoffs on the power play, only (Ovechkin-Zubrus-Willsie, Biron-Muir).
Yes- at ES, it seems it's going to be Clark as much as possible. Hanlon's been raving about the game Ovechkin and Zubrus had against the Ducks, and JB/CL have been raving about how Clark seems to have picked their game(s) up and the game HE had against Anaheim. Clark was the interview, but I missed all but a couple words of it.
I'd expect him to stay there, barring an offensive collapse by that line.
I was not surprised to see Clark stay with Zubrus and Ovechkin, because he looks physical and fast, and seems to have chemistry with them. I was surprised to "see" him at center.
Biron is back, and suddenly our power play works again... a coincidence?
He's not much involved in those two goals, but still... We only had one game without a power play goal, with him (and for about ten games we had one of the best power play units in the league).
On the 5 on 3, the Caps get 4 SOGs, but no goal.... one of those, AO from the goalie's right, rebound just out of the reach of Zubrus' stick and between his legs, with a gaping wide open net for the hat trick....
then Boucher comes up big on a sharp angle shot from AO.....
They should change that- Zubrus was easily the closest to the man who hit the puck toward the net (unless AO was at the crease, and that Dman tipped it in under Boucher).
Laich with the shot, the rebound goes to the right and behind Boucher, where Clymer does the spin and fires it to Bradley, who pounds it in.
Just for chuckles, JB/CL have no idea that first goal has been creditted to Ovechkin- they just said "5 on the board, none of which belongs to number 8.".
And I sure wish they'd change the wording on this Ovechkin commercial- "The future is now.... one man does it all." I'd rather hear one man CAN do it all.
5 on 3 for the 'Yotes for 1:38....

Our power play is good. If our penalty killing improves, now, we're going to win games and move up in the standings (don't know if it would be a good thing, though).
Thanks to that unassisted (and unscored) goal, Ovechkin is now tied for second in the league in goals. All we need, now, is a true Ovechkin goal to make this game perfect.
JB says "That is the goal if the year- don't even bother sending in votes!"
Marc, he gets knocked over by the Dman, and shoots it while sliding ON HIS BACK......
you won't believe this goal!
edit: and I didn't realize- he's sliding on his back diagonally away from the goal, and HIS STICK IS OVER HIS HEAD, and he's rolling toward the goal- absolutely incredible!

Can't wait to see that goal, Roger. And thanks again for the link to rh71's page. I'll burn all those videos into a CD to watch them on my big TV. Must buy (again) a DivX player, though, because my children have mine.
