Thanks for the link. It's certainly not a pretty sight. The Thetford Mines team (white jerseys) seems to take the brunt of the beatings. The announcers even decry the fact that none of the guys on the TM bench responds to the taunts of the other team to come out and fight. They say the players are reduced to being spectators, not even reacting. It's also disconcerting to see the one TM player that was either clocked very hard or hit his head on the ice. He can't even get up and may be seriously hurt. The crowd even boos when the goalies meet at center ice and just talk. It's incidents like those that you hope don't make it to the greater media to perpetuate the negative image of the sport.
Just FYI, the teams belong to the Ligue Nord-Americaine de Hockey (LNAH) -- the North American Hockey League. Checking out the LNAH website and reading some of the stories, including player comments, it appears that major brawls like those are more the norm than the exception. Interesting. I wasn't even aware of the LNAH until now. Here is the link:
