The Sabres strike 2:56 in, not a lot Ward could do- Buf had them outmanned. And next time down the ice, the Sabres storm again.... very intense start to this series. Canes go offside, 16:05 left 1st.

Canes go on the PP 14:23 left 1st- there is an abundance of speed to this game, but not so physical to this point.

Pretty much the whole penalty spent in the Sabres' end, but... the Sabres did the job. Never let the Canes really set up- offside, Miller with a puck off the glass and out to stop play, maybe 2 clears to kill the momentum.

Another turnover in front of the Buffalo net, Brind'Amour.... passes and they don't get off a shot. He goes back to the bench shaking his head..... when it's on your stick, let fly.

In the break, Briere said the Sabres need to forecheck better... they are doing so, this period. Carolina getting the better chances, but not denting the twine. 16:00 left 2nd already- another fast game with few unnecessary stoppages.

A Cane highsticks a Sabre right off a faceoff, and Buf gets the late PP with 3:44 left 2nd.
Only one real good chance, several clears, and killed.with 1:45 left 2nd.
Canes get a 2 on 1, but it bounces over the stick on the pass.... Canes buzzing with 1:00 left.... down the other end but right back out, and the Canes go offside.... couple of late shots by the Canes....

In response to the Canes being outshot 13-4 that period, Stillman says they have to get the puck behind the Dmen and start putting shots on goal.
