2006 NHL Draft

Caps pick Swedish center Nicklas Backstrom with the 4th overall pick, then Russian goalie Semen Varlamov with the 23rd. After Semin, Semen... great. McPhee probably thought it was better to directly draft Semen than the anagram of "A Vomit Seminar" that FJC suggested.

Backström had a rather decent  shooting percentage this season: 90.9%! 11 shots, 10 goals. Not bad for an 18-year old playing with men in Sweden.
