The NHLPA is holding it's annual general meeting this week at the rather expensive town known as Whistler.

Why could this be fun ?
Because the Dissidents have invited Bob Goodenow and his right hand man Ian Pulver to attend these meetings.
20 of the 30 teams reps voted for these two to attend.
Ted Saskin cannot be happy .


(there is even a rumor that Goodenow might wrestle back control of the union).

Most have probably figured I've been a Goodenow fan pretty much down the line; I've been picking on the Saskin/Linden faction every chance I get.

sorry but the confrontation has FIZZLED!
Goodenow and Pulver have decided not to attend the meeting because saskin would not allow them to address the players .
PLus many of the "dissidents" are complaining with the time of the meetings...........many players are away on their summer holidays and cannot attend.

I erred when I said that 20 of the 30 reps voted to have Goodenow attend.
The story I heard today was that it was a 20 out of 20 reps vote.

I also see the Mr. Linden, having done all the damage to the NHLPA he could do, has now decided to gracefully retire from the persidency. Look for him in the NHL offices within two years.

Whatever happened to all those teams who said they would go belly up with a 42 million salary cap during the lockout.
Cap is now at 44 million and hear no talk of belly upping .

I still say the main reason for the lockout was to get rid of Goodenow .
