Stolen from official, a post by Shaggy about the game:
I watched most of the VAN/MIN game - Vancouver has been playing a 1 -2 -2 , so they didnt resemble their high flying scoring machine of old. Both teams got back on D all night. And that was the whole game, up and down the ice. Neither goalie was really tested, as little in the way of scoring opportunities were being generated. Very tight checking. You felt the game was going either way, but Luongo had a 1-0 lead going into the 3rd, and being a Caps fan, that's when we pee on the fire and call in the dogs.
This grinding style of game continues with the Wild even with the addition of the amazingly talented Rolston, Gaborik, and Demitra. But they tied it only on a fluky goal, depite putting 35 mostly pedestrian shots on goal. Luongo gave let in 3 of the 4 shootout tries, go figure.
The Wild like to pinch in on the PK because of their phenomenal speed and seem to generate at least as many shots on their PK as the opponent. One lazy pass and they are down the ice, they dont care about conserving strength and dumping it down the ice.
Fernandez is a good, not great goalie, IMO.. He gives them a chance to win most nights.
