Caps/DSC/Beer and SNOW!

What ever happened to Global Warming ?

There is a snowfall warning around my part of the world for tonight !

Leafs had to put Jay Harrison on waivers to make room for Sundin
Harrison is 6'4 and 211 pd.s
He's a young D-man
Maybe the Caps should take a chance with him .

Can't do any worse than last night.....

still no Semin, so Fehr is still there (it rhymes! hahahaha)

Interviewing Brendan Witt now. Talking about Nolan- wants them to work hard, if they don't, they hear about it. Very "black and white" coach.

Puck drops in about 2:00.

And I envy you with the snow warnings. We had warnings back last Monday, but it all stayed on the western side of the mountains. Since then, warmer and heavy rain. Gonna be in the 50s and 60s the next week..... ugh. I'm ready for winter.

Sutherby interview: talking about the suspensions- sometimes, those games just have to happen. They were taking (unfair) advantage, and the Caps had to do something about it. Learn from it and move on, left a message it won't happen again.

Heward was a scratch tonight, so Muir plays. Kolzig against DePietro in goal.

Caps didn't score on the 5 on 3, and now didn't score on the rest of the PP.

1-0 Isles, end 1st.

The penalty problem seems to have been the officials held Satan (the first penalty) until Blake's (the second) expired, so the 5 on 3 was over and 5 on 4 was correct for playing on.

Re: Game 23 at NEW YORK Islanders

Better effort? I'd have to say.......  yes, but they're not really playing with a lot of experience. They seem to get caught along the boards a lot- they cycle ok, but can't get out of it to get a shot off. Ovechkin rarely makes as strong a move this season as Blake just did, and that's hard to understand. Guys like Zubrus, Clark, and Pettinger are streaky on offense, anyway. The D seems very fragile (and I guess that means they're missing Heward tonight).

Green and Ovechkin collide. Took an easy :10 off this PP getting things back in order.

All I want from them is too make an effort so I guess i cannot complain tonight.
But next year(or even later on this season) I expect results .
The Maple Leafs look like a very ordinary team tonight and there is no excuse for losing 7-1 on home ice to this team .

looking like a shutout for the Isles tonight.

Erskine and Simon fight: both throw and land blows, Simon gets the takedown, but I'd call it a draw.

Caps come down on a 3 on 1, pad save for RDP.

They go down the other end, Park scores on a puck none of the Caps including Kolzig can find, right in front of the crease.

3-0

Ryan Smyth: with Ovechkin and Semin (and Pettinger), we don't have room for a LW, I think.

Ladislav Nagy: same thing; plus, he's way too expensive for what he's worth.

Brent Seabrook: agree.

McPhee must do something now to wake up the team, I think. I'd sign Jason Allison. He could center Semin and Zednik.

3rd is on.

I've always been reluctant to say this, but here it finally is:

I wish Kolzig had retired.

I admire and respect the guy, and he's got all the heart in the world, but he no longer has the reflexes needed in the "new" NHL. The Caps need a real center (someone for more than one year), a first line Dman, and a goalie if they are ever going to improve.

They listened to you, Marc!

3-1.

Eminger just got flat-out crushed into the boards- he got up, but was holding his head as he did. Kolzig covered the puck, but only to get a stop in play. Now Witt flattens Clark. Ovie crunches an Isle behind the goal.... more physical, all of a sudden.

RDP save on an Ovie shot.
