tor/mon has gotten a little boring
mon cannot score 5 on 5(they are -12 5 on 5 this season) and they do not look like they are about to change this tonight.
even any rough stuff seems to be a no/no
(downey gets a 10 minny for talking)
Looks like Ott thought they had the game against TB in the bag.
Up 4-0 after one
it's now 4-2 in the 2nd
Antropov throws a tasty bodycheck on Bell(yes, Bell is a team mate of Antro) and mon ends up with a 4 on 1 breakaway because of it.
Latendresse scored
2-1
New radio problems, tonight, except that it's not my own stupidity, this time: they still re-broadcast the game against Dallas.
Already 3-0 Caps after 7:45. Zednik (unassisted), Muir (from Sutherby) and Ovechkin (unassisted). All at even strength. Miller pulled, Biron in. Kolzig in goal again for the Caps.

Declining attendance and fan interest doesn't = a cut in the Cap next year.
Matter of fact it should actually go up !
reason ?
Most teams raised their ticket prices for this season and despite less fans, their revenues are UP so far this season.
A few seconds after Briere dumped the puck in, AO elbowed him from behind. Briere went face first into the boards by his bench -- awkwardly -- and didn't get up after the trainers attended to him. Meanwhile, Gaustad came off the bench (for his change) and went after AO. Mair went after Muir.
Caps' 2nd goal, Muir's, was a long slow shot from outside- no idea how Miller missed it. Sabres' first goal was an own goal on the Caps-Kolzig lunged for it, and I think it was Morrisonn who tapped it under him instead of into his glove. I had tried to leave on the Caps' third goal, but my friends insisted that I stay; a few seconds later, the own goal, and they all told me I should have left. I said I would on the next one, and a few seconds later Biron got his glove on the puck, but it popped up, over him, hit his back, and eked over the line.....
they just showed the Ovechkin play on replay
Zednik is hurt and in pain as he slams into the wall..... he was hurt before he hit the boards. Might be his left leg or ankle. He's still in pain as Smitty works on him. He has to be helped up by 2 players, and he is not moving either leg as they push him to the bench.
back to Ovechkin- they showed the play, good call by the ref. Gave him the game because it was high, and Ovechkin in street clothes watching the game now was now a happy guy. Muir gets called for holding (just as the puck was covered).
Ovechkin's 20 minutes were a 5:00 boarding major (I've been expecting this, he's come close often taking runs at guys, it was just a matter of time that he got there a little late and a little high like tonight), 5:00 for fighting, and a 10:00 game misconduct. Truthfully, I hope he learns his lesson from this, but still keeps his aggressive attitude. He's been walking that fine line for several weeks, and he just went a little over tonight.
Ossi was just a rumor floating around today. Schultz did skate the preskate (wearing 55), but wasn't even listed as a scratch. Maybe he's not officially on the roster, but he is here.
Best thing about this game at the arena was the fans- there were literally thousands of Sabres' fans in the house tonight. Very loud, very proud. Raising a ruckus on the street before the game, and in the arena for the preskate.
Was really great to hear the noise, even if it was for the visitors- and they didn't need any electronic help, either. I wish the caps would get rid of the horn blasts (not Sam, but the electric one) and the siren and let the fans do it themselves. Most people don't even try, because you can't drown out the electronics.
Buffalo cuts it to 2 again.
edit: because I still can't type.

during the tor/mon game
the leaf fans would start chanting and then the hometown habbies would try to drown them out with their own chants.
great .I loved it
sogs in van so far
9-2 colo
(although I dispute the 9 total ........i think they are trying to make luongo look good or something)
Hemsky is out for a longtime
Smyth breaks his thumb tonight
Trouble in Oilerland
How bad is it ?
They just lost 4-0 on home ice to the awful BLUE JACKETS !
No Cap has ever had a hat trick AT HOME against the Sabres......
Vanek just proved why he's one oof the better young kids in the "new" NHL- on his knees, back to Kolzig, gets a pass, twists to his left on his knees and stick flat on the ice, and whips a pass across to Afinegenov for the open netter......... missed the net.
Hard to believe, it was really a Crosby-like pass. He doesn't even get a point out of it.
Erskine with the shorty empty netter!
Eminger and Afinegenov drop the gloves with :16.1 left.....
7-4 final!
AND IT'S THE CAPS WITH 7!!!!!!
one last edit: because not only can I not type, I can't count, either.

The interesting thing will be to see how the Caps react to this. Remember how, earlier in the year, they came out very flat several games in a row, after a little winning streak.
Tonight cost them some, too: Ovechkin with his first ever ejection (although he probably won't get suspension time), Zednik down and out, other guys beat up pretty good (Buffalo can play physical when they want to).
That said, if you had asked me how they would fare against Dallas, Tampa Bay and Buffalo, in a row, I would have said 1-2 at the most. Instead, they get 6 big points, and have the next two games at home.
"The interesting thing will be to see how the Caps react to this."
Because of the negative aspects of this game (Ovechkin kicked out, Zednik injured...), they won't get too enthusiastic, I think, and will work hard in the next game... It's the only way for them to win a game, anyway.

Don't know if it has been posted elsewhere and I was at Hershey's game so I am just now watchng the Caps game, but I listened to the beginning of Vogel's precap report and he said that Schultz was called up because a Caps d-man was not feeling well and they didn't know if he would be able to play. They didn't want to call up Nycholat or Hunt because the Bears would need them for their games. He confirmed that Nycholat would not be exposed to waivers because of the way his contract was written. Something about him making less than $95,000.
