TSN just showed a complete view of the arena
Looks Empty

SAD!

I can see the Caps moving in a few years unless the attendance improves.

Two things that worry me
The empty seats in Wash
and the lack of effort from the Sens.

Looks like the Sens are mailing this one in .

Scheafer(sp?) scores for the Sens
2-1 Caps

Sens are playing like a team that should be beat .
No reason for the Caps to lose to them tonight .

Re: Sens in Wash

December 6 2006, 8:29 PM

surprised by quiet the crowd is .

That's because there is no crowd..... I left about 10:00 left in the 1st, as Tony and Rob (who sit down the row from me) got "Move Of The Game" for the second time this season. They deserve it- nice people, jerseys, pins all over, and sit in the back row.....

I see the boys worked hard for a while (Clark with another) and have a 2-1 make it a 3-1 lead.

Sticks were snapping all over, while I was there. First Pothier shattered his, then it was Ovechkin. I hate the graphite sticks- they just snap so easily.

3-1 Caps, end 2nd.

Re: Sens in Wash

I haven't seen a dominant team yet this season. Hard to say what a Cup-worthy team looks like. I would have said Buffalo, until our Caps just demolished them. Even without any controversy, that was an easy win.

So, I don'r know.... Buffalo? Ducks? Wings (they're getting hot)?

Who knows?

Best team i have seen this season are the sharks.
But they have their shortcomings.
Ducks have been good but their tending worries me .

probably.

True story- I went up to Virginia Hospital Center to visit a good friend (she died of cancer yesterday morning), and as I neared the hospital I realized I walking right past Ovechkin's house. Didn't see him, but he's got some nice new wheels......

Thank you. My landlady for 20 years..... and a great friend.

Koken just told a story about how they asked Hanlon who the best passer on the team was, and he didn't hesitate- Semin. Said the Redskins could use him passing to the receivers. There's a kid who worked on his game while he was gone (as well as his body- he's got a neck now!).

Scrums everywhere after that cover by Olie. Muir had Schaefer in a bear hug, several cross checks to both the backs and fronts of heads both ways. There should be at least 1 in the box for each team when they come back.

I'll be insulted here
but I was in shock on how bad the Sens were tonight .
Why wasn't Gratty put on the ice for the last few mins ?
May mean nothing to caps fans but Sens fans would understand .

Re: Sens in Wash

He did his whuppin' early in the game, on Erskine. First the takedown, but JE twisted back up to his feet, then several hard blows from each- Gratty got Erskine's helmet off, and then it was lights out. Easy win for the Gratmaster.

Re: Sens in Wash

December 6 2006, 9:52 PM

I didn't quite get any of the penalty calls against both sides. They call the Betties but let the real ones go.

Pettinger's on fire (glad I picked him up for my fantasy team). He needs to stay on the top PP unit. If they can get Semin to shoot one-timers from the left point and keep Pettinger on the weak side, the Caps PP stands a chance of being legitimately threatening.

In ten words or less: The Caps won because they wanted it more.

Re: Sens in Wash

They sure did. Great article on the game:

http://www.canada.com/components/print.aspx?id=ac914285-9ea7-49f2-a222-cb12c3037868&k=72051

With this description at the end (for TAK): The only thing the Senators won in the first period was the fight between Brian McGrattan and Capitals defenceman John Erskine. McGrattan twice knocked Erskine to the ice.
