And the Sabres score 1:51 in, a man gets open coming across the blue line, no one picks him up, and a sharp pass to the slot puts the Sabres ahead.

Brashear and Peters go at it..... lots of heavy blows thrown by both. If I have to pick a winner, it's Peters on a very close decision.

This one was a shot, Kolzig moving to his left, the puck bounces off a body and shoots off to Kolzig's right- no chance.
A moment later, Ovechkin gets crunched.....
this has become a gutcheck game very early.
That crunch? They just showed the replay- a spear by Briere, right in the groin.
Cheap shot, right out in the open- no call.

Ovechkin missed a shot right before the break, just got stopped on a breakaway, and again off a turnover in the slot. This game could be closer than the score makes it seem.

According to Kolbe, the Caps are the third most penalized team in the league. Not good at all, if we want to make the playoffs.

Pretty good looking guy in that picture in the other thread, huh? LOL Those glasses were the ones they were passing out for the "Fear the Visor" N.J. game..... although I did contribute $5 for my pair. In that picture I'm actually wearing them right over my regular glasses.
JB just said the same thing I did- the Caps score one more, and the Sabres will start to squirm a little with that big 6 goal lead cut in half.....
but the 2nd period ends at 6-2 (although the Caps get a PP to start the 3rd).

It was almost 6-4..... on a delayed penalty call, Miller was headed for the bench, and Buffalo in an attempt to pass headed the puck the wrong way, right at the empty net. Miller had to come back and get it before it could go in. They've got these guys rattled now, but need one more quick one while there's still a good amount of time left.

Just watched the highlights. I don't think our goalies were guilty on any of the goals they gave up. Screened goalie, bad bounces, etc. The only goal where I see a mistake, the first one against Kolzig, I think Schultz is the one to blame (didn't pay enough attention to Afinogenov), but it's a PPG.
