Game 50 vs. CAROLINA Hurricanes (W 7-3)January 27 2007 at 8:25 PM | crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator |
| Left the game at 3-0 Caps, realizing I was still watching a 2-man team (the Alexs). Got home in time to see 3-2, and an ineffective PP.
edit: What do I mean?
7:56 WSH A. SEMIN (28) Unassisted
9:53 WSH A. OVECHKIN (31) Unassisted
12:41 WSH A. SEMIN (29) Unassisted

A nice steal by Alex II, a short poke check, and Fehr gets his goal!

Caps with another PP with 2:01 left 2nd, and get nothing on it.
4-2 Caps, end 2nd. |

Stats after 2:
SOGs 20-16 Canes
Hits 15-11 Caps (last night after 2, there were 66 "hits" recorded, with 94 total for the game- I think they need some new stat guys at RBC)
Giveaways 14-7 Caps, and I assume that's how the Canes got back in the game
Blocks 14-10 Caps
Faceoffs 52% Canes 17 of 33
Penalties 4 for 8:00 Canes, 3 for 6:00 Caps
Stay out of the box and forecheck, Caps will win. Give the Canes two more PPs in this period, and the Caps will lose.

Kolzig under fire 2:45 gone 3rd, but he holds up..... the Caps get a delayed PP, Kolzig leaves the net, Ovie controls, dekes two guys, and fires a pass to the open side of the net- Beech!!!! A rare 6 on 5 goal for the good guys.
5-2 Caps! |

Ovechkin working on the longest current scoring streak (11 games) in the NHL. He's got 1-1-2 tonight- that was sweet pass to Beech for an easy goal. |

Now the Canes get a PP, and get that great goal right back.

Another Canes' PP, and Kolzig under fire again. So far, he's up to the task.....
killed, Semin with a semi-breakaway, and draws the foul- gonna be a Caps' PP when they come back from TV timeout, with 9:08? left in regulation.
Clark scores immediately- 6-3 Caps! |

Ovechkin draws the hook this time, and it's right back on the PP for the Caps. |
