Talk on the pregame was Ovechkin needs 9 goals these last 12 games to reach 50; his best streak last season was 13 goals in 12 games. At present, he has 7 in his last 8 games..... gonna have to step it up a little to get to the half century mark again (this season).
Tarik's blog says Jurcina will be asked back next season (whether that means a qualifying offer, or a real contract has yet to be determined), since McPhee likes the way he plays.
Game on.

Nillson (kent's son and one of the guys they got for Smyth)makes his NHL debut tonight for the OIl
Jeff Cowan the Brabarian has been bumped up from the 4th line to the 1st(sexy sedins)
He will also get pp time
the bras may be coming down tonight
lest hope so cause the game is on my tv
Caps have another PP coming, after this TV timeout.
When I first logged on the site this evening, there was an advertising thread started, by a new member- 007MC. In the interest of fairness, here's the link to what he (I assume it was a he) was advertising:
Crowd "looks" pretty good- camera only picks up the first several rows around the glass, but seems fairly full. More filled than empty, anyway. Not a lot of noise, though.
last time I saw a game from Boston
the announcer made mention on how quiet the crowd was
then again there wasn't one bodycheck thrown in the whole game so I could understand why the crowd was silent .
:50 left in the Caps penalty, and Boston commits a 4:00 minor of their own- 1:27 left in the 1st, and the Caps may start the 2nd with 2:42 of PP time. ANOTHER Bruins' penalty gives the Caps 2:00 full minutes of 5 on 3! :55.8 left 1st.
Penalties Bruins 5 for 10:00, Caps 4 for 16:00- I thought Morrisonn got 4:00 for high sticking, but he actually got 2:00 for the stick and a 10:00 game misconduct for headbutting.
2nd on, and the Caps don't convert on the long PP. Still 2-0. Plus, I'm confused- Morrisonn is still out there skating..... I'll check the call again, but NHL had a 10:00 game up.
17:10 left 2nd, and the Bruins get the man advantage again.
Well they switched that call back to a 4:00 double minor for high sticking, thus Morrisonn skates on. Almost no offense on this PP, and Kolzig had denied what little O the Bruins have brough tonight.
the devils and car actually had a few minutes of entertaining hockey so the ref felt the need to put an end to it
calls a cheap pen against Car
our first pp
Bradley and Alberts go at it with 8:45 left 2nd. Draw.
Play starts again, and Morrisonn gets literally checked over the boards and into the bench as he's trying to leave the ice- someone else jumps onto the ice to take his place.
Bob McKenzie just had a story about NHL teams trying to get NCAA players to join them for the rest of the season
mentioned lots players names but not a cappy prospect among them
Well, that's what I get for getting excited by the Caps' play- first, a Boston PP and they score to make it 3-1. Then, another Caps penalty, and now a double minor on Eminger to give the Bruins a long Betty when the 3rd starts up.
Captain Clark was named first star of the game, and first star of the day ("Clark scored three times for his second career hat trick, but the Capitals fell to the Bruins 4-3").
Lineup:
WASHINGTON Capitals
Ovechkin Novotny Brashear
Semin Beech Fleischmann
Laich Gordon Clark
Clymer Sutherby Bradley
Jurcina Morrisonn
Pothier Schultz
Eminger Green
Kolzig
(Johnson)
I won't be able to follow tonight's game (I have my children). See you Sunday afternoon. Go, Caps! (I mean: let's reach that second worst place and then win the lottery).
