Even in the absence of Afinogenov, the Sabres have 7 players with 15 goals or more (Vanek, Drury, Pominville, Briere, Zubrus, Hecht and Roy), plus Stafford who has the same kind of ratio (9 goals in 33 games). It won't be easy to shut down THREE scoring lines.

I'd have to give that one to Brashear, on the experience. Peters hung in there though, and got a few good shots in.

Mair and Zubrus with the assists on that last goal. Buff with a good shorty chance on a 2 on 1, but Pominville swings and misses on it.

They should be doing more than they are.

Caps do weather the storm at the end of the period. Maybe they'll come out firing in the 3rd (but I doubt that's Hanlon's plan).

Zubrus the interview- the trade was harder on his family than on him- says at least he's in the room half the day, meeting and talking to new guys. Said he still needs more time to adjust to playing wing again, but it's coming along. Last thing was, he said hi to his family in D.C.

Eminger a great play to knock the puck away from Stafford, but catches a skate in the face and crashes into the boards. He eventually comes up smelling like a rose- didn't appear to be cut badly, and got off the ice on his own.

Caps with another PP, and a chance to get back in the game if they put a little pressure on.

I was hoping for desire(playing for next seaon) from the Caps tonight.

Again, Sabres were better a man down than the Caps with an extra man. Ugh.

misto tells me Shanahan is playing for the Rangers tonight, and a check of the stats shows him with over 10:00 TOI so far, and the Rangers up 3-0 (Jagr with a goal).

Sabres make it 4-1, and the Caps have 11:00 of pride to play.
