Thanks, Tom. I had not seen this article: Goalie Huet cleared to play, will back up Halak. Aebischer's on the bench, tonight, though.

I'm going to pull for the Canadiens in the playoffs. Because of Huet, of course, but also because I like their French radio commentators.

I believe that the Sabres have a good chance to go the finals, though.

And I know you'll pull for Sexy Souray too, Tom.

There was a hit by Kolnik at 16:54 of the 2nd, the middle of Semin's last long shift (he seemed to leave the ice around 17:30, and only skated a short :10 shift right at the end of the period). I wonder if that was the cause.... still no word or even questions about it during the postgame, which kind of says to me injury.

Hope Semin is OK. He doesn't need that now. Hope he has two happy last games with the Caps and reaches the 40-goal plateau.

Just heard that Semin isn't playing in the 3rd pd or even on the bench.

Maybe the slash he took at the end of the 2nd pd broke his hand.

That's as close as I've seen to an injury claim. No mention in the post game, or in Hanlon's interview.

From this morning's Washington Post:

The Capitals left immediately for Atlanta, where they'll attempt to match last season's point total of 70 when they play the Thrashers at Philips Arena tonight. But they won't know until game time whether Alexander Semin, the team's second-leading scorer behind Ovechkin, can play. He left the bench at the end of the second period and did not return because of a sore foot, a team official said.

About Booth's great opportunity, in the last seconds of the second period: Pothier was probably heading to the bench when Bouwmeester made a quick and (very) long pass to Booth, and Pothier had to come back at full speed. He didn't stop Booth from shooting, but he did a good job, in my opinion, and he blocked Booth's second attempt 6 seconds later.

With 17 seconds left to the second period, Fleischmann, Bradley and Schultz leave the ice and are replaced by Ovechkin, Semin and Jurcina. Pothier and Novotny can't leave the ice because of Bouwmeester's long pass to Booth. Kolzig denies Booth, then Novotny fails to clear the puck, Booth steals it and shoots, but it's blocked by Pothier, like I said.

Problem: there are only 4 Caps in the defensive zone. Semin is probably unable to help at that moment, unless he's waiting for a pass in the neutral zone. It looks like he was able to skate in the first seconds, though.
