interesting hockey trivia
Z Parise scored the winning goal in game 1
His dad also has an NHL PLayoff game winning goal way back when .
only 3 other Father/Son duos have eached scored game winning goals in the Playoffs.
Can you name them ?

TB are hitting like the Flames of old
Vinnie L scored on a pp
(awful goal on Marty B part)
Roy delivered a few nice hits but the refs decided that hitting ain't part of the game anymore and Roy goes to the sinbin . |

Ryan Miller catches a puck with his facemask, and play is stopped as he drops to the seat of his pants, stunned. |
|
 tak (Login the_all_knowing) Member | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 7:50 PM |
should add that Marty Biron was asked if he could only sign one of Drury or Briere for his team.............he picked Drury .
Despite being a good friend with DB |

 crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 7:50 PM |
Ricky D makes a couple good save from in very close... Isles look the best on offense, Buffalo on the D so far. |

Buffalo gets the first PP of the game. |

 crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 7:54 PM |
Witt crushes Connolly with a hit.... Isles get a 2 on 1 SH break, but take the puck in offside... Isles kill the penalty... |
|
 crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 7:57 PM |
Buffalo gets away with too many on the ice, no call... Yashin throws a big hit on kotalik... Isles draw a foul breaking in on Miller. Isles PP coming up. |
|
 tak (Login the_all_knowing) Member | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 7:59 PM |
must admit that I am pulling for Isles in this series.
Not because I dislike the sabres but it would be nice to see an upset or two.
|

 crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 7:59 PM |
Trivia courtesy of the lovely Chris Simpson- brand new sheet of ice on the Island, only been in since Wednesday- they tore up the old sheet after the regular season. |

Yashin to Satan.... clank. Crossbar.
Isles break in again, 2 on 1, but the pass goes awry...
the Isles are out-quicking the Sabres to this point. |

Chris Simpson
Craig Simpson's sister !
TB has added extra air conditioning to their arena
but it is only 65 degrees today
2nd is on
White isn't benched
back spasms is the reason he is out . |

 crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 8:07 PM |
Zednik and Campoli in on another 2 on 1.... the puck gets away from Zed. That's easily 4 good scoring chances blown for the Isles. |
|
 tak (Login the_all_knowing) Member | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 8:08 PM |
Ms Brinkley has an Islander blog thingy going.
She is still a Yummy gal !
TB seems to have broken up the Vinnie l/MSL combo
playing on different lines |
|
 crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 8:09 PM |
Neglected to mention the puck got away, but they did get a PP.... back to ES. Both goalies have been stellar so far. |
|
 tak (Login the_all_knowing) Member | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 8:11 PM |
TB has been the best team in this game and yet it is still only 1-0
if NJ gets the next one I think they'll win . |
|
 crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 8:11 PM |
Yes the blog thingy was mentioned- she said her son Jack is a big Isles' fan, and got her going to games. Good looker for (I think) 51, yes. |

Miller takes another hard shot off the helmet (the side this time, the first one was dead on his forehead), and collapses in a heap again.... he's okay. |

 tak (Login the_all_knowing) Member | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 8:17 PM |
NJ gets a pp and have no real chances on it
just heard Gionta's name for the first time tonight
Elias name hasn't been mentioned
They need their best players to be their best players !
TB now on the pp |

0-0, end 1st. |

TB pp killed
9 mins to go in the 2nd
1-0
Pork
Safeway had a sell on pre cooked(all I need to do is heat them up) bbq Ribs
so I bought 4 packages
just ate one and may heat another(they were tasty) |

 tak (Login the_all_knowing) Member | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 8:28 PM |
looks like both teams have given up hitting in the 2nd
I'd preferred the 1 st per
I have a feeling that NJ will get a fluke goal and then win this game . |
|
 crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 8:31 PM |
(Versus trivia) So far in the playoffs, teams leading after 1 period:
14-0 |
|
 tak (Login the_all_knowing) Member | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 8:33 PM |
Madden ties it at 1
I am hoping that Holmqvist was screened on it or it was a weak goal to give up .
TB needs to start playing like they did in the 1st per ! |
|
 tak (Login the_all_knowing) Member | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 8:36 PM |
TB gets an last min pp
and they do not score
Madden almost scored a shorty at the buzzer
nice glove save by Holmqvist
1-1 after 2 |
|
 crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 8:43 PM |
End to end action, but no goals yet- Sabres have only 10 SOGs 24:00 into the game. |
|
 crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 8:45 PM |
Mair with a great hit on Hunter causes a turnover, and the Sabres take advantage and get a tip-in goal.
1-0 |
|
 tak (Login the_all_knowing) Member | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 8:56 PM |
I remember a time when the ref did his job and we did not need video replay for every close chance !
Why have 2 refs on the ice if they cannot see if the puck is in or not !
Just saw an replay and cannot say if it was in or not . |
|
 crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: day 6 | April 16 2007, 8:56 PM |
Call on the ice is no goal, and review doesn't show a conclusive puck over the line- still under review.... finally, one view shows the puck pretty clearly over the line....
it's a goal.
2-0 Buffalo

1:36 to go |

TB has a 2 on 1 on a empty net and miss

MSL with assists on all 3 goals, Vinnie with 1-1-2.... Jersey boys better lay some body on these two next game, or it's over. |

Isles started the 3rd well, but Buffalo has hunkered down and kept them away from the net.
Still 3-2 Sabres, with about 5:00 left in regulation. |

Isles get called for a phantom penalty with 1:34 left in regulation, and the fans litter the ice with whatever they can throw on it..... |

Best part of the Isle game was that Bettman was in the crowd.
Got to witness the fans displeasure with the refs.
not that bettman gives a damn . |
