With the speculation in the paper that he would not be available for Opening Night, I thought it would be Semin on injured reserve- turns out to be Eminger....
but I'm still not sure. I thought they should IR Semin for the first 5 games of the season- 4 of them are away games, with 2 sets of back-to-back nights, and there's a 5 day layoff between game 5 (the 13th) and game 6 (the 18th). Home fans would only miss him one game, he'd have ample time to recover, and a player on IR frees up a roster spot for almost three weeks under this scenario.... plenty of time for other things to sort themselves out.

Your option is reasonable: home fans would only miss him one game. But perhaps the Caps would miss him more, so as soon as he's ready, he should join the team. It will be hard to win games without our two snipers in the lineup.
Wow, just saw nhl.com's new homepage. My eyes!
Still the new game sheets. We'll get used to them, I guess.
Yes, it would have been great to get Drury. But do you see him on the second line, centering Semin and monitoring Backstrom? And on the top one, Ovechkin and Kozlov already look like good linemates, to me. Faceoffs could be a problem, though; that's why Gordon took the faceoffs at the end of the last game.
Oh, by the way, I'll probably be unable to watch the game, tonight, because all the games are blacked out, for me, now, although the preview period was supposed to end on October 9. I've sent them an e-mail to ask why. I hope it doesn't mean that you can't follow the season from France, because I'd like to be able to do that. But there's another problem, with Center Ice: you only get the first and second rounds of the playoffs, I believe; if the Caps go to the Conference and Stanley Cup Finals (one can dream), I won't be able to see them.
