Game 26 at Carolina Hurricanes (L 3-4)November 30 2007 at 7:07 PM | crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator |
| As you pointed out, Marc, Laing is called up (Motzko redux? We shall see), and several of the more needed forwards are not skating.
This could be a thrashing the team (and Boudreau) won't soon forget.

I do believe Scott "the wild thing" Walker is back in the Canes lineup .
Does Holly still sing the anthem or has she gone off to better things ? |

Wow- 2:33 in, the Caps go on the PP, and :02 later, Oveckin roofs one to give the Caps the early lead!
1-0 Caps. |

They didn't show the anthem, so no idea if Holly still warbles for the Canes.
Yes indeed, Mr. Walker is back in uniform.
Nice to "see" you for a while.
Cap in the box.... 15:02 left 1st. |

Killed it off. Good job- Laing got some time on the PK, and apparently Boudreau was telling press that "he'll give up the body out there", and he did on that PK.
While you're here, just wanted to say a woman at work today asked me for a Who album recommendation, and I thought of you and "Live at Leeds". So she went on Amazon and ordered one for her 12 y.o. son (an aspiring guitar player), but was a few dollars short to qualify for free shipping, so I had her get an extra copy for me.
Canes score, it's tied. |

nice to "see" you
do not know how long I'll be here as I am on another's puter
should be kicked off by runny nose kids rather soon
how have been the crowds in Car this year ?
I was very surprised by the number of empty seats I saw in the Ott in NYI game
I know those Isle uni's are butt ugly but they cannot be so ugly that they keep the fans away . |

Live at Leeds
one of (if not the best)live albums ever
can never go wrong recommending that disc.
Kieth Moon is one of my fav rockers |

The seats we can see on TV are filled, they must be doing all right. Leading the division, so lots of folks there tonight to celebrate an "easy" game against the Caps. Every time I've gone to a game at RBC, it's been packed.
Cap in the box again, but they've killed 1:35 of it (and now, all of it) while I typed. |

That's what I told her- I thought it had Moon on it, that it was one of the best live albums around, and the band was at the top of their game at the time.
Now LaRose takes a penalty, and the Caps go on the PP again..... |

I noticed that the Wings management are pushing the NHL to adopt a 84 game schedule starting in 09
I think the season is long enough now but what do I know .

1:30 of the PP Ovechkin scores again, but it's under review- off his left skate, and he did kind of redirect it to Ward's 5 hole.
No goal. |

Killed, LaRose breaks out of the box clear of everyone with the puck, and Ovechkin takes him down- penalty shot....
Denied by Kolzig! |

time for a little personal(not that I have anything to do with it) Boasting
My 14 year old nephew was in an recent tourney and was voted the best D-man and picked on the Allstar team .
he is now expected to be one of the top picks in the upcoming WHL draft .
maybe in 4 years , the caps might draft him |

I think the season is about right right now, and 1-2 more or less won't make all that much difference. Look at the West every season- there's always 11-12 teams in it for 8 spots, right up until the last 5 games. So I wouldn't mind a couple extra, but I wouldn't mind leaving it alone, either. |

crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: Game 26 at Carolina Hurricanes | November 30 2007, 7:42 PM |
He's a good Dman and you hope the CAPS draft him? Who are you and what have you done with TAK? |

2:40 left 1st, Poti to the box for delay, despite all the Caps arguing the puck hit glass before leaving the ice.....
they're working hard, killed half of it already....
most of it.... all of it. Great job again. Under 1:00 in the period....
1-1, end 1st.

if my nephew was to play on the caps
just think of all the inside scoops I get
speaking of youngsters
How has Backstrom looked this year ?
points are not important for me with a rookie............I want to know about about his demeanor(sp?) on the ice.
Does he look like a future nhl star ?
I remember seeing Yzerman in his first year and despite the fact the wings were bad and stevie y did not rock the NHL world his first year.
You could see that he had what it took to be a star.

I haven't seen him "live", so it's all just my opinion from TV- he's the real deal. Coming along just fine, sees the ice well, excellent passing, never seems hurried when the puck is on his stick, protects it well, not afraid to get a little physical on the boards, will dig for pucks.
He doesn't shoot much (yet), and he's still atrocious on faceoffs, but he admits the NHL game is far different than what he's used to, and faceoffs here are "more physical".
He'll learn, but I sure hope he learns in Washington. |

in the few international jr games I saw backstrom play in
he played a good game and should be a good(hopefully ...very good) nhler in a few years

Stats after 1:
Scoring chances 4 (on 4 SOGs) -2 Canes
SOGs 8-4 Caps
Hits 6-5 Caps (generous scoring, both ways)
Blocks 13-2 Caps
Faceoffs 52% Canes (11 of 21... Backstrom was 100%, 1 of 1)

17:50 left 2nd, Caps get a PP.... Canes kill.

Cullen puts the Canes ahead 2-1. Stoppable, but bounced on Kolzig and away from him to the other side of the net.
2-1 Canes |

5:59 left 2nd, the Canes have scored but now this one is under review too (high stick? )....
it counts.
3-1 Canes. |
|
crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: Game 26 at Carolina Hurricanes | November 30 2007, 8:45 PM |
Wow- late in the period, Semin plays some D, fires it around behind Kolzig's net (he hopes), and it pings just outside the post.....
Caps to the PP with :09.4 left 2nd.
WOW-Caps score just as the horn goes off, the green light is on, the clock reads 0:00...... under review, the third time tonight. I hate to say it, but my opinion it was off the stick of Green before the horn, but not over the line.....
no goal.
3-1 Canes, end 2nd.

:32 into the 3rd........
Ovechkin! Great move, and an even better shot!
3-2 Canes |
|
crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: Game 26 at Carolina Hurricanes | November 30 2007, 9:12 PM |
Ovechkin with his 3rd good goal of the night- unfortunately, it goes behind Kolzig, and puts the Canes up by 2. OK was out of position after a shot, and Green was in position to defend the net as the puck came from behind the net, but Ovechkin got his stick in the way of the puck before it got to Green, and deflected it into the open goal.....
4-2 Canes. |
|
crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: Game 26 at Carolina Hurricanes | November 30 2007, 9:31 PM |
4:07 left in regulation, Nylander makes up for a little of his -4 to this point by scoring.
4-3 Canes, 4:07 left 3rd. |
|
crowesnest (Login reallycrowesnest) Forum Moderator | Re: Game 26 at Carolina Hurricanes | November 30 2007, 9:43 PM |
1:49 left, EN Caps.... 1:33 left, Canes' penalty gives the Caps a 6 on 4.....
about :20 left, Semin gets whacked in the ankle again, and drops like a rock. They literally have to help him off the ice (he doesn't put his left skate down), at the :15.2 mark....
4-3 Canes, final. |
