Caps kill the next time, but it's 10-5 SOGs Habs late in the period. All Habs, all period... late chance, Habs off the post on an EN and Kolzig covers, facing the net and boards....
Ovechkin's was right off a faceoff (for maybe the 4th time this season), Backstrom's was a nice wrist shot (they interviewed him- the kid speaks English pretty well already- and he said he didn't have time for a slapshot, so tried a wrister), and Gordon's just beat Price cold.
We gotta try to win more often in overtime and shootout, if we want to do something in the playoffs, because it's the only thing that we miss. Over .500 is good, but if it's with tons of OT losses, it doesn't make you go too far into the playoffs.
LOL, I was about to say, "Green had two assists tonight, it would be cool if he could score the game winner, he'd lead all d-men alone with 11 goals."
Congrats to the kids (Green and Backstrom are a huge satisfaction) and the rest of the team. Ovechkin is having a lot of fun, right now. Too bad he doesn't get more assists.
I've watched the video summaries of the last four games, and the Caps do look great. Too bad they give up a few softies from time to time, but at least they play with passion and are constantly moving their feet.
They didn't have two consecutive pointless games with Boudreau, so far. They should be in a playoff berth by March.
"the playoffs are still a distant dream- too many teams ahead of them in the same boat, not enough time"
Yes, too many teams around 44 points. But that could be our chance, because the Southeast Division leader only has 2 more points than the team currently ranked 9th in the conference. In my opinion, we only have to watch the other teams of our division. One is already behind. Next one will be the Panthers. And the Thrashers are only 4 points ahead. The division title is not out of reach. Not to mention that the Thrashers have played 1 more game, and the Hurricanes 2. We're potentially 3 points away from the division title, and have 40 more games to play. There's no reason to give up now.
We do miss another good defenseman, though. Poti is not the best one around; he cost us a few goals lately, I think. But I guess the coach and the GM don't want to break the team's momentum. The guys here are obviously happy to play together.
