Needless to say, I'm more than happy to see Huet here. I wanted him as a Cap the year he was drafted. I even emailed Ted about it, hahaha! With Huet in town, Kolzig will play better (like yesterday), and we have much better chances to make the playoffs, and do something good once there. We now have one of the best goalies in the league right now, one who gets shutouts, a little more than 2 GAA and more than 90%: it will be a radical change. With the offense we have, we can win every game.

Fedorov: great to add a guy with his experience. They don't intend to break up Ovechkin and Backstrom, but Backstrom could move back to the wing and we'd have Ovechkin-Fedorov-Backstrom. Hopefully, Fedorov still has good hands and will be able to finish some of Ovechkin's and Backstrom's great passes.

Cooke: he's a very solid third liner that can score, as far as I know, and he can play both wings. In a sense, he's like Pettinger, who had become transparent, alas.

We lost Nylander and Clark to injuries, we got Fedorov and Cooke. Sounds good to me.

Lines could be:

Ovechkin Fedorov Backstrom
Semin Kozlov Fleischmann
Laich Steckel Cooke
Brashear Gordon Bradley
(Fehr, Laing)

PS (from Tarik's blog): "Washington has also made a minor league move, dealing forward Joe Motzko to Atlanta for wing/center Alexandre Giroux, a former member of the Caps' organization."
