Supposedly Boudreau is sticking with the changes Tarik spoke of....

and Carter scores in the first minute, and Huet gets totally wiped out after the puck is past him.

Not good. Now Semin and Hartnell fight, and Prospal jumps in too. Penalties a'comin'.

Caps turnover in their own zone, chance for the Flyers, Upshall shoots wide!

Seconds later, Knuble shoots, Carter jumps on the rebound and scores! 1-0 Flyers.

Now Backstorm and Briere are nose to nose, lips flapping continually.... the officials get between them.

Semin is in the box for roughing, but the Caps are on the PP (Briere gets 2:00 holding the stick, 2:00 for roughing). Let's see what comes of all this.

Assists to Ovechkin and Green.

Penalties were actually: Semin 2 minutes for roughing, Brière 2 minutes for roughing + 2 minutes for holding the stick, thus the PP.

Pretty exciting first 5:00-6:00..... Caps commit a foul again, and it's 5 on 3 for :18..... cleared! ................. back to 5 on 4......... cleared! ......... cleared again at 1:03 PP....... Flyers clear it themselves........ and another penalty on the Caps, too many on the ice so another 2MA for :26....

Too many Caps on the ice: another 5-on-3, this time for 26 seconds.

This one is killed, without too much trouble for Huet, and it's now 5-on-4.

Now that the Caps have tied the game, I think they should calm down.

N54 is down right now.

So far, except for those terrible first 42 seconds, Caps have been strong and even dangerous on the PK, and very efficient on the PP. Great. Flyers must not feel as good as they did two days ago.

Montréal leading Boston 1-0, end first. Could be in less than 2 hours the second team qualified for the next round.

Shots were 12-11 Flyers in the first. Eminger scored on the Caps' first shot of the second period, 5:56 into it.

This has become a VERY physical game. Lots of crunching just as the puck is released, from both sides.

Semin actually passed it it to Cooke, who was robbed by Biron.

Now Semin is hurt, doubled over and heads for the bench. Might have caught a stick.

Yes, a physical game, but what do you expect from that team? Hehe. Them and the Leafs. On the play-by-play sheet, it's often: hit-hit-hit, sometimes twice by the same guy in a few seconds. Ovechkin has 4 hits and not even one shot on goal (but 2 assists): the only one he took went wide.

Semin to the locker room.... replay shows Lupul got him elbow to head, inadvertent (they were both turning, and turned right into each other).

Steckel and Backstrom have been terrible at faceoff so far (Steckel: 0/6, and Eminger scored seconds after the only faceoff won by Backstrom tonight, out of 6).

See above- it was Lupul. Semin turned left, Lupul right- right into each other. Thought it was an elbow, but might have been a stick. Semin has a bandage left side of his nose, but he's back in the game and skating well.

3-2 Caps, end 2nd.
