Game on, McKenna in goal for the Bolts.... it's "Dads" weekend again, I think I heard 14 of them with the team in Florida for the trip... not much excitement the first 3:00 until Vinnie gets a good chance off a turnover right in front, and gets beat....
green goes down twice on hits within seconds, someone tries another on Ovechkin, and he stands solid while they crumple to the ice.... the Caps come down.... Backstrom....

Semin and Backstrom given what Laughlin is calling "phantom" assists on the Ovechkin goal (and he's right, as Malone stripped I think it was Semin of the puck before Ovechkin took it right back)....

The Caps are getting a little sloppy now, and the Bolts are trying to take advantage of it. Got to get their heads back into playing hockey.... Smaby hit in the face with a stick, Bolts will be on the PP after the TV timeout....
The penalty is green, for hooking- no idea where that came from.... killed easily.
JB and CL still laughing at the scoring tonight, as Ovechkin's was unassisted but two were given out, and the Tampa goal was clearly St Louis, but given to Malone....
Ovechkin and Green come in 2 on 0 on Ramo, G, to O, to G, to O who whiffs as the pass is just a bit off. lol

Ramo a cover at :15 left PP, and another call on the Bolts- Caps have a short 5 on 3. Boudreau takes his timeout to give the big line a little rest and instruction for the 2MA...

WOW- Green rings one off the post, almost the other record.... JB reports Pothier is on this trip and was in full gear at practice this morning.... over 6:00 gone 3rd, the Bolts don't have a SOG yet this period....
Just as play stops and they cut to TV timeout, it's Ovechkin and Koci with a little shoulder block love on each other.... Recchi gets the second SOG this period.... Neuvirth BIG glove again....and again- this guy is looking good....
Neuvirth closes in on another record tonight, this one for most NHL wins by a Czech goalie- only 388 behind Hasek now!
On Ovechkin's goal, the puck passes next to Backstrom, but it's Semin who stops it and gives it to Ovechkin, so his assist is deserved. They probably thought that Backstrom deflected it first. That's the first impression I had, but it seems he didn't touch it, actually.
Two ex-Caps involved on Green's goal, by the way: Halpern in the box, and Pettinger with the initial block.
"I got a shot and one of the Tampa players made a good block," Green said during an interview with Caps' TV analyst Craig Laughlin during the second intermission. "I went right behind him, and I was just waiting for it to drop. I was in the slot, and I just put it five-hole."
NHL.com was all about Green, yesterday. Green sets record, the Green machine, etc. I guess the Norris trophy is secured, now.
