Theodore in goal, Green going for a Caps' record, Backstrom now with 100 assists behind him, Ovechkin on the prowl, the second of back-to-back games...... and a rested Florida, for all their troubles, still well in the playoff hunt.
Should be an interesting game for both teams.
Game on...

Best play in the first 2:30, Florida JUUUST offside for a clear breakaway by McLean... 15:50 Theo gloves one, and has conversation with the Panther right in front of him....
Theo covers after a brief scrum, TV timeout with 13:33 left 1st.
:10 later, Florida gets the first PP of the game.... 2 good saves by Theo already... and killed. Nice job.
11:16 left puck out of play as Backstrom gets one off... Caps give up a 4 on 2, Theo with another fine save... the clock on Comcast is frozen at 10:22 left 1st, as we're already over halfway....
Fehr now leads the League - not the Caps, the League - in ES goals in February with 6. That's what- 7 goals in his last 8 games? And we thought Green is hot...
Semin and Ovechkin in 2 on 1, but the pass to Ovie goes awry...
15:17 left 2nd, Poti to the box for tripping. Another PP chance for the Cats... at 1:11 left PP, we're 4 on 4 again- Zed for tripping, this time.
:21 later, another call on the Caps, and it's 4 on 3 Panthers... Poti out, it's 4 on 4... Theo covers with :24 left in the 4 on 4.
My error, 6 goals in 8 games for Fehr... 4 on 4 done, :21 of PP for the Cats....
killed.
11:41, the Panthers get caught in a bad line change, Green gets a lead (without the puck) and gets taken down... Caps on the PP. Green with 2 attempts on this one already, no results... :12 left PP, puck off the ice...
killed... Theo really under fire as Fla works hard and keeps the puck in a long time... right back in for the Cats... Theo BIG blocker save on Zed... next time down, confusion behind Theo, the puck comes out to Frolik uncovered...
Caps have the pressure on, an "almost" by Beagle, now an "almost" by Laich...
and Cap-in-the-box at 2:24 left 2nd. Caps with three good clears... now a fourth... Schultz with a SH shot, but Vokoun easy block... clear again by Green... cleared at :05 and killed... Florida the turnover, Ovechkin the shot, Vokoun the cover at about :06...
Wow- great passing by the Caps, great shot by Ovechkin, but Vokoun not onlt is up to the challenge, but gets the interference call on Semin at 7:39 left reg.... more PP for the Cats...
PK working hard, working well... Poti gets away with another interference... killed.
Ovechkin, Semin, Backstrom in 3 on 2... Ovechkin shoots...
Ovechkin's shot was just wicked good again, through Bouwmeester who played it right, but Vokoun never saw it and had no chance... Ballard with a good shot on Theo, but he stops it cold... under 1:30 now...
EN for the Cats... one of the teams has called timeout, Green will be on the ice, I think, with an empty net and a team record looming... here we go, 1:03 left...
Cats with the pressure and the extra man...
Ovie sends it the length, no icing...
ovechkin falls and shoots.... the empty net looms, hits the post... trickles in!!!
First goal (Ovechkin, PP): Green was sliding to the right, and there was absolutely no one between him and the goal... I just can't believe it, with the attention he got lately, not to mention that the Southeast division opponents should know him better than that. Ovechkin scored through pairs of skates, but he could have easily passed it to Green for the record.

Zednik had this great slap shot that Theo blocked. Looks like he's been doing good, lately. Check his January 31 and February 5 spectacular goals, for instance:
But still, I'd rather have Fehr. He's at last doing what we expected from him. Maybe he'll become a key player by the end of the season, and it won't have been only a good moment. He has a lot to do to make us forget that we could have drafted Getzlaf, but if he's regularly scoring 1 goal every 3 games, I'll be satisfied. He's been doing much better than that lately, but we'll see on a longer term. We'll count on him in the playoffs, too, and on Fleischmann. Hopefully, they won't disappoint.
As for Backstrom, he's now 4th in the league in assists, surrounded by guys like Crosby, Thornton and Datsyuk. That's something. Hopefully, Malkin will miss a few games...
