Sucky game- left with 4:53 left 1st and the Avs up 1-0 on a 5 on 3, got home with 15:21 left 2nd to see the Avs score and take the lead.
This could be 6-1, not 2-1... too many odd man rushes for the Avs, too much forecheck by the Avs for the Caps...
4:00 left 2nd. Icing Caps at 3:54... 3:28, Cap-in-the-box for a high stick....
Caps miss an open net with a 3 on 2 shorthanded.... early on tonight, Kronwall broke in free with a wide open net, shot was waaaaay high, and the Avs came right down and scored. Coulda, woulda, shoulda....
Theo covers with 2:01 left 2nd... at least they killed the penalty, thanks to Theo...
we're under 1:00... in an interview, Evanson (sp? ) said too much side to side, not enough hard work.... he was right.
2-1 Avs, end 2nd.
Oh, yeah- Foote's goal, to make it 2-1, was his first in over 100 games, his first in 1 1/2 seasons.... good job, defense.

Interview with Fleishmann "We need more energy- they're waiting for us in the neutral zone, if we get it through they are first to the puck.... we need more energy."
True story- as I headed for the street door tonight, an usher that sees me all the time asked "are you really going already?" ... I told him they were done for the night. Looking like prophecy.
13:41 left reg, Avs to the PP agian, and a TV timeout.
Maybe they're looking past Colorado to Pittsburgh on Sunday (national TV, too on NBC) , maybe they're coming down from "the Goal Part II" last game... whatever it is, they better get over it fast. They had another near (if not) sellout tonight, a loud, raucous crowd, a 3 game winning streak, and a weak Western opponent.
Semin gets taken down, it's 4 on 4 for :24... Caps' PP... several good chances, Raycroft denies...
(CL also points out Semin has 1- that's one- PPG all season)
Laughlin points out "nobody in front, they need a body in front when those shots are coming from the point"... ES... almost too-many-men Caps.... "looks like a layup" for Fleishmann, but he misses...
8:43 left reg, TV timeout. Might as well be over.

We're under 3:00 left, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
Green sees an open net, but the puck bounces over his stick... Laughlin points out "we're getting spoiled with this team" and he's right.... 1:30 left... under 1:00... Backstrom and someone fighting at center ice, Ovechkin choke-holds the guy from the back and stops it... penalties a'comin'. Backstrom and the guy get 2:00 each, Ovechkin walks away...
4-1 Avs, final. First Avs' win in DC since October of 2000, when Roy set the record.
Over on Official, fjc (in the guise of "ThePeerless" ) says...
If I was inclined toward conspiracy theories, I might say that Nylander was trying to play himself into a trade tonight. It might have been his worst game of the year. Minus-2, a terrible neutral zone giveaway that led to a goal, 3-of-6 in the circle, not a single shot attempted.
He won't be getting a jersey on Sunday.
So, unbelievably, it looks like Nylander is promoted to the first line tomorrow:
