Ovechkin with a big hit on Reasoner. Hainsey (who probably retaliated) gets called for roughing with 5 seconds left: Caps on the PP. And they almost score on the buzzer!
End of first, 1-1.
Goals were from Fleischmann (unassisted) and Armstrong, both at even strength.
Shots are 10-6 Thrashers. If you add the missed shots and those that were blocked by skaters, it's actually 22-18 Caps. Ovechkin and Green with half of the Caps' attempts (respectively 6 and 5).
Caps dominating at faceoff, 14-7, thanks to Backstrom (4-1) and Steckel (3-0).
In other news: Malkin was scoreless yesterday, with an unsuccessful penalty shot. Ovechkin needs to score a few points tonight to put some pressure on Malkin.
Second period on, with Caps on the PP for 1:55.

Penalty killed, and now the Caps on the PP. These teams don't like playing at even strength. They've spent more than half of the time on the PP/PK so far.
I've missed the first five minutes of the third period, enough for Nylander to score the game-tying goal, from Laich and Fehr! 3-3.
And now FEHR SCOOOOOOOOOOOOORES!!!! 4-3 Caps!
The goal is still by Laich unassisted on the score sheet, but it was Fehr, from Laich and Nylander. The trio has changed the whole game in two shifts. EDIT: score sheet fixed.

I left after about 26:00, and laughlin just now expounding on how they were "lackluster pretty much the first half of this game (Slava with the SHG).... on one PP, the Caps had the Thrash a man down and two ATL sticks broken, and couldn't score. By the time i got home (Metro is a mess today) it was early 3rd, (Laich with the ENG) and the Caps were up 4-3.
