Must win, like any game now, hehe. A win would help keeping the Jets at a reasonable distance until the end.

Ovechkin shot one while lying on his belly but that was weak, hehe. He got another chance after that.

Hainsey to the box for hooking Chimera on a great chance. Caps on the PP for the first time.

One minute after the end of the penalty, Jets score! Ladd shoots a first time, gets blocked by Carlson, the puck bounces off another Cap and comes back to Ladd who fires it in. The weird bounces caught Vokoun by surprise.

1-0 Jets.

But Caps strike back 22 seconds later!!! Laich redirects a shot by Johansson.

1-1.

Jets show some talent and a lot of energy. Caps are responding well, being physical when needed and fast in the counter attacks.

End of first period, 1-1.

Jets had many turnovers in the neutral zone. Caps should be able to turn one of these into a goal if this goes on after the rest.

Brouwer to the box early in the second (1:17) for hooking.

Some wide open hockey, unexpectedly. Antropov rings the outside of the post!

Penalty gets killed with only one shot on goal for the Jets.

Vokoun stones Fehr on his best chance of the game.

A great phase with chances for both teams. Both teams are keeping things open and the goalies are busy.

Near mid-game, Fehr goes to the locker room, extremely upset. I didn't see why.

Kane hits the post! Caps lucky tonight.

And Jets almost score seconds later on a puck mishandled by Vokoun!

And another one when Laich sends the puck out of play by mistake! Jets will have a very long 5-on-3 (1:38).

Laich gets a chance out of the box but is held by Enstrom, and it's a penalty against the Jets! Dramatic game so far.

There is 1:50 left to the Caps' PP.

I missed the beginning of the third period. Caps tied the game on the PP with a goal by Perreault, unassisted.

They also started this period like the two others, with an early hooking penalty (by Chimera again, at 2:43), killed.

Wheeler and Brouwer to the box for roughing, 4-on-4 hockey.

Jets put a lot of pressure on the Caps defensemen on this 4-on-4, it's almost like a PP, and they score! Byfuglien.

3-2 Jets.

What a game! I'm just speechless at the intensity. This crowd is incredible, and their team is playing with so much energy.

On a shift that was almost over, Semin battles and drags a penalty with 2:22 left to the game. That's the Caps' chance to tie this game. Hainsey realizes he made a bad mistake, there.

Caps pull Vokoun with one minute left to the penalty, 6 attackers. They try everything but the game ends on a win for the Jets, 3-2.

Can't say that the Jets didn't deserve their win. Caps showed a lot of good things, though.

Apologies for not being here- I laid down to rest until game time about 7 (my time), and woke around midnight, saw I had totally missed the game, and went back to sleep.

From what I saw of highlights on NHLN yeah, it was a playoff atmosphere, and the Caps got beat fair and square. I can't see them winning a 7 game series against ANY team in the East- even their wins are usually one goal (or OT/SO). They just don't blow anyone away on a consistent basis. They've got the talent, but don't know how to harness it.

And, just for your information, after 15 years, I did not renew my season ticket for next season and I did not buy playoff tickets for this year. Going to games is more for the young and those who can afford such things, and it's gotten a bit beyond my capacity to enjoy or afford.

I still love the game, so I'll save some money and watch what I can on the tube.
