Re: Game 50 vs. Philadelphia Flyers (W 5-3)

So it turned out to be a good game for the Caps.
Could have been different if the iron on the Flyers' PP had been a goal, though. Holtby made some terrific saves, and the Caps scored on terrible mistakes by the Flyers.
On Stephenson's first goal, Neuvirth actually had the puck between his skates but he didn't know where it was. Stephenson saw his confusion and quickly came to stuff it in.
On Oshie's goal, Hagg lost his stick; Lehtera offered him his but he declined. Hagg was supposed to prevent Kuznetsov from making a pass to Oshie. How could he do that without a stick? You can only block a shot, like that. It was wide open between Kuznetsov and Oshie. Lehtera was mostly focused on preventing a pass to Carlson, who had just switched positions with Ovechkin, and he was too late to realise the danger in Oshie.
It's Djoos who took Holtby out of the play on the Flyers' second goal. I thought he had been pushed, but on the replay it doesn't seem so.
The Flyers only had one shot on goal after Voracek made it 5-3 with 9:20 left. Good job by the Caps to protect their lead.
It was Alex Lyon's NHL debut. He stopped the 5 shots he faced. He may even start their next game.
