It is disturbing indeed, that NEC decision. Since 1975 all disputes over ownership of Customary Land must be dealt with by the Land Courts established by the Land Disputes Settlement Act. These courts are serviced by the gazetted Land Court Magistrates of the Magesteial Services Commission. No other courts have jurisdiction in the first instance to hear land disputes over CUSTOMARY LAND. After decisions of the land court, then aggrieved parties can then appeal to the higher courts. Thus it seems to me that this wafi land disputes may have exhausted the legal forums and decisions have been made one way or another. Why call in the Land Titles Commission to determine ownership now?
